That ball was smoked into the wall. Not a great read, but on a ball hit that hard and far, I don't think it was that bad of a play. Seemed like he picked a spot and was trying to find the ball.. whereas a lot of guys will track the ball (slower) and not get as close.

In a 3-2 count, only pitch in strike zone is called a ball.

No doubt ball was smoked and George made it look a lot closer than it probably should have been. George threw his hands up which reminded of times he's had problems with lights.

That was a ball? It was straight down the middle of the plate.

I agree with him on Jake, but not Springer.

Jake set some incredibly lofty expectations in CF, and this year he's failed to make a number of (very difficult) plays he's made in the past...perhaps mostly 4* on Statcast. But he's also misread a couple of 3* catches, which he never did before. He's still a stud outfielder, but he hasn't lived up to "Adam Everett of CF" across this entire season so far. That said, he can easily get back there.

frustrating that Morton is generally pitching well but has given up a handful of big ones.

I'd be pissed if I was Morton. His first two runs don't happen if his fielders properly execute a double play.

It's hard to say about the second two, but he's getting so squeezed on some of his pitches by the ump, that he's falling behind in counts and also being forced to throw the ball right down the center to get a strike called. Of course, batters are going to tee off on that.

Maybe he should b**** out the umps like Roark did. That seemed to work.
