Not trouble, he dropped 30+ we just have had good defensive SFs over the years Battier, Artest, Ariza

 

trouble as compared to other teams where he dropped more upto 60+.. its all relative...

we now have the combination of frantic offense of harden + cp3 and stingy defense of ariza and luc

 

What we know...
- Melo has made it clear, he'll only accept a trade to Houston
- NYK want to rebuild around Porzingis and Hardaway, thus they're looking for young players or draft picks
- Our primary trade chip is Ryan Anderson who's 3yr/60M contract is a detractor to his underlying value.

Anderson has value and a unique long distance shooting skill that can change the dynamic of defensive schemes and create opportunities for play makers. However, his contract makes anyone feel you're paying for a Porsche Boxster, but actually getting a Mini Cooper.

Perry, obviously wants to try to "win" in the Melo trade, and taking a Mini Cooper for an older Ferrari is still a sucker's deal. So Morey has to design the deal to help Perry save face, while finding someone who wants to enjoy a Mini Cooper. The additional problem is whoever is willing to drive that Mini Cooper is also agreeing to help create a Super Team. To pull this off we're going to have to sweeten the pot for that 3rd team with draft picks and something they want. After the Paul trade, the only young sweeteners we have that might interest anyone would be in priority order...

- Troy Williams (hyper fast SF with 3pt range, play-making ability and defensive skills)
- Qi Zhou (a potential new age 5, who has great length, developing offensive skills and has rim protection potential)
- Future 1st Rounders
- Euro assets (Llull or Gentile)
- Cameron Oliver (young PF with solid all-around potential)
- Isiah Taylor (Ultra fast/quick PG with improving play-making skills and a decent shot)
- Isiah Hartenstein (Young big, who has potential, but is a couple of years away from what that might be)
- Future 2nd Rounders

In my mind, the question is what team can we entice into taking Ryan, picks and sweeteners that will offer NYK something that allows Perry to claim victory and save face.

- Nets (something around a Lin and Booker package would give NYK a vet PG to run team and a solid PF, plus a young player)
- Det (maybe a Harris and Reggie Jackson package would be best NYK could hope for in this situation and DET gets Hou picks and sweeteners)
- Other potential facilitators could be UTH, PHO, POR, CHA and NO, but it would seem Western Conference teams would be less likely to want to facilitate this type of deal.
- Finally, a straight trade with NYK that includes some combo of Anderson, sweeteners and fillers.

Given, nothing has materialized in this amount of time, I would think that Morey has stuck to his guns on others roster players not moving (EGO, Capela, Ariza, etc.), however, I would have to believe he would part with a package of the above sweeteners to get this deal done.

Am I wrong or are there any untouchables in the list above for Melo? And if not, if you're Perry who would you want us to include?

I've said this before but Ryno is a great fit for Portland. Arguably a better fit than Carmelo. Plus his home games wouldn't be at Toyota Center so he should be a better player than last year. I know they aren't eager to help the Rockets get Anthony but they'd improve their team by acquiring Ryno.

I do not believe that the Knicks and Kings can be involved in a deal together for 1 year because of the deal they struck to get the Knicks new GM.
