I'm a fan of these 2 signings. It's been repeated over and over again how these two guys have that "Defensive Switchability" necessary to compete against the Warriors. Both guys also provide depth for Ariza.

Most Regular Season Minutes last 3 years
    1. Harden
    2. Wiggins
    3. ARIZA
    4. Wall
    5. Lillard
    168. Parsons

The best ability is availability and Ariza has been a rock for us these last 3 years. If you include the playoffs, only LeBron/Curry/Klay/Draymond/Harden have played more minutes than Ariza. I look forward to a fresher Ariza who plays 28 MPG vs. the iron man 36 MPG Ariza we've seen the last 3 years.

I totally get signing both Tucker/Moute considering Ariza's monster workload + Anderson's injury history.

But how would you compare Moute and Tucker as players, especially defensively? Do you see them as basically identical players who will play essentially the same role for us in 2018?

    Differences
    - Tucker is more physical
    - Moute has more length
    - Tucker has a more reliable shot
    - Moute has more above-the-rim leaping ability
    - Tucker is a vocal leader vs. Moute being a quiet glue guy

Do you guys agree with that list and is there anything else you'd add to it?

What metrics does one use to measure how good he is on defense?

Do you think Ariza went to Morey and said "Get me help on defense" ?

Considering we don't get either without CP3, I wonder if anyone is still foolish enough to claim we gave up too much for him.

Just hope this doesn't turn into an AB vs Lowry debate or worse yet, a Harden vs Lin debate.

    Good thread OP.

I've been trying to imagine birth these guys defend Durant and Green. One thing about Durant and Green, both guys seem to like and get jacked up when they get the trash talking going. Tucker, with his verbosity might actually ignite them whereas Luc with his silent pestering may have a tendacy to frustrate them more.

This is exactly why players like Rondo and Rubio are struggling so badly in today's game. The game is ever evolving. You can either evolve with it or go into extinction. The days of guards who can't shoot or at least finish strong are over.

I think the Paul/Harden/Ariza/Tucker/Moute lineup is going to be our (and the NBA as a whole's) best bet vs. the Warriors Death Lineup.

Paul will guard Curry and Harden will guard Iggy.

Which means Ariza/Tucker/Moute guarding Klay/Durant/Green. It will be interesting to see who guards who but I think it will be Ariza on Klay, Tucker on Dray, Moute on KD.

Tucker vs. Dray will be fun to watch. Tucker is not some little punk that Draymond can intimidate and overpower. Klay is Klay and KD is unguardable pretty much. Dray is the guy we can need to try and limit, it will be interesting to see if either Tucker or Moute can slow him down on offense.

Tucker - Above average rebounder for a small ball 4

Moute - Poor rebounder for a small ball 4

My bet, Tucker becomes the fan favorite, Luc becomes the new scapegoat after Anderson is gone.
Both are great pickups with similar pros and cons (can guard multiple positions, good defense , some shooting but not so consistent).
Luc has what coaches like (awarness on D, off the ball movement), Tucker has what everyone likes (heart and hustle).

Hard to use a dude on a minimum as the scapegoat. But I agree

He'll be competing with Tariq Black for that honor.

Black won't have the pressure of hitting important wide open threes like Tucker. No matter how much hustle and defense you provide, Cfnet will turn on you fast if you have a bad month shooting threes. Whereas Black is going to surprise this fan base with monster slams and aggressive rebounding...with no obvious mistakes.

You can predict it now..."Black needs more minutes. Play him at the 4". With the counter argument,,",smh, MDA will never play two non-shooters at the same time."

That said, Tucker will probably win me over...like Bev did.
