If Irving goes to NY for KP, would Melo prefer to stay in NY?

The melo to Houston idea is dead now. New York shifting to Irving. Melo wants to play with LeBron too. He is going to Cleveland and I hate it but at least it's over now. Maybe in 2018 free agency he joins us

Cavs wouldn't trade Love for Melo and will all of a sudden trade Kyrie for Melo?

    Stop panicking.

Thank you for this insider info. We will stop hoping for Melo now as you seem quite credible.

I would think at this point, Melo would say No Thanks to Cavs too.

I actually don't think the Irving trade request is going to help the Rockets-

    A. There's still a possibility of Irving mending the fences with Cleveland. I'd hold judgement on that one. Do you know anyone who is dumb enough to leave Lebron? Its not like he's dumb enough to think the world is flat or something (ohh wait... )

and if they do trade him-

    B. It does kind of make sense for both Melo and Lebron to try for a one-year run together in Cleveland. Melo is going to likely hit the free agent market one way or another next Summer so it makes sense to opt for a one year run with Lebron where him and Bron can hit free agency and maybe team up in LA or something next year.

Only way I see Melo not being a big possibility of going to Cleveland in this hypothetical trade is if Lebron is demanding to be traded now before the season started. Since Melo is looking to hit free agency either way, and there are no guarantees for a max contract in Houston, I think it might make some sense to push hard to get to Cleveland... depending on Lebron of course, but no indication that Lebron isn't going to try and go for a title again in Cleveland this year.

(And I'm sure the Knicks would give up more than Melo to get Irving FYI)

If Cavs trade Irving for Melo, it means they are throwing away this season and banana boat reunion will happen in Cleveland

They gonna offer us some Love for Cp3

no but seriously- that would be the a dumb trade (Irving for Melo on basically a 1 year rental) Hell no.
The Cavs wouldnt do that.. besides Irving doesnt even have a trade clause, therefore they can trade him wherever they want.

I pray that Houston never falls into the dysfunctional hell that is the Knicks, Cavs, Kings, Bulls, and Clippers.

Its a trade scenario. Meaning the Knicks are choosing to send him to Cleveland over Houston. I think its been pretty clear he "prefers" Houston over Cleveland, but that's not the point. As long as Cleveland is still a B option, there is a chance THE KNICKS choose to involve him in a deal going to Cleveland.

Melo could also say he won't accept a trade to the Cavs if he isn't sure about their direction anymore.
