Texas lost a 4* Defensive End from Oklahoma. Ron Tatum has flipped to OU. You can't get too bent out of shape if you can't keep an out of state player. It hurts to lose a defensive end. It's not a position that we have a lot of depth in.
Ya saw this one coming when he announced he was still open to schools when he committed. Better to happen now than in February.
Herman collecting some weapons. One of the fastest kids in the country, if not the fastest. Ran a 4.33 at the opening.
Also Justin Watkins decommitted over the weekend. This was just a matter of time. Next commitment will be his 3rd in the last year.
Alvonte Woodard (WR) committed over the weekend. 68th ranked player in the country per 247, 8th in Texas. Herman now has 3 of the Top 10 players in Texas and apparently sitting well with 2-3 others.

There's nothing like the doldrums of mid-summer to make you ready for college football season. Can't wait to trash talk with you knuckleheads in the fall.
The ability to recruit Houston is one thing about Herman I really love moving forward. He will always have an "in" with young Houston athletes that Charlie and even Mack (who was better suited at recruiting every other area of Texas, especially Dallas) did not necessarily have.
Speaking of recruiting, here's a story from Deadspin yesterday. Here are some excerpts: How Did Things Get So Bad for Texas' Power Five Teams
The coaching carousel is an interesting aspect in all of this so it'll be interesting to keep an eye on the SEC this upcoming season. They've already had recent changes at Georgia, Mizzou, and LSU. Sumlin and Freeze are being mentioned the most but guys like Butch Jones, Bielema, and maybe even Malzahn are feeling it somewhat too.
He'll get destroyed in the SEC. You need to be an above average game manager and he's definitely not.
