I think this is a great move. The Pelicans needed someone that could get AD & Boogie open looks. Rondo will balance everything out
They are going to be legit on Defense. I don't know about not having shooters but not many teams will be scoring big on them.
I think the Pelicans are going to struggle, i think Holiday can play next to Rondo, Boogie and Davis are terrific together on paper, but i don't see them being mature enough to make it work, i expect the spacing to be also pretty bad...they'll be interesting to watch but i don't feel great about them for one reason or another.
I can see them snagging a spot somewhere between the sixth and eight seed. Their interior offense will be interesting to watch. While their defense might be as good as the defense of the past Memphis teams.
Their perimeter play is not close to what is needed to win on a nightly basis. Still need much needed upgrades at the 2 and 3 spots. Holiday is a decent pg but not nearly good enough to lead a team
Yeah, he's more of a combo, but i think Rondo will be their starting pg, Holiday will probably slide at the 2 which is a role he can play imo, i just don't think they'll be able to make everything work, seems more like they put some figurines together rather than building a logic team, which is expected by Demps btw...i also wonder if they're going ot have some lockeroom problems with Rondo, Cousins...eh...
Rondo and Boogie got along well in Sacramento and this could help the Pels get more out of both guys. Also, IMO, Jrue Holiday ain't all that so signing a better than average PG might be a good idea. On occasion, the two can share the floor. On the other hand, Rondo wants to get paid next summer. How soon before he decides he's better than Holiday and deserves to be the starter? IMO, Cousins and AD overlap too much and the Pels best move is to trade him for a scoring wing player and rebounding C. Maybe the Pels should have offered Cousins for Paul George. Bottom line is Pels need an elite wing player to pair with AD instead of Cousins (plus a better coach).
