That is like saying they are the ugliest person in a beauty contest. Does not mean the contract is bad.

David Aldridge is in a clip on NBA.com staying that he thinks Carmelo still ends up in Houston, New York just paused to focus on their front office shuffling. He also says that he doesn't think Eric Gordon goes anywhere, all signs point to Ryan Anderson. He says that "moving Anderson at 20 mil isn't impossible, but is difficult."

I have to try to understand what the trade is that you are saying that is in place:
The trade that Hou fans think is fair for Melo is:

    NY gives Melo
NY gets Meyers Leonard & Moe Harkless

    Hou gets Melo
    Hou gives Ryan Anderson

    Portland gets Ryan Anderson
    Portland gives Leonard and Harkless

This is the bones of the deal, right?

Are there any other kickers here in terms of draft picks, younger NG players?

Leonard goes to a 4th team. Not sure what they give up is the rumor.

1st round pick and players from a 3rd or 4th team... It's those pieces that are the question mark, not Ryno. The deal will most likely be Melo to Houston, 1st rounder to NY, Ryno to a 3rd team... And remaining player(s) to the Knicks. Melo will be a rocket and the hold up has nothing to do with Anderson... And everything to do with the Knicks trying to play hardball with no leverage.

but they can't find the 4th team, right? So how are the Knicks holding up the deal? Its bc they are refusing to take Leonard themselves, right? No one else wants the guy, but the NYK should take him. So 2 guys who have really shown absolutely nothing in Portland (granted they are young) who are collectively eating up 60+mil over the next 3 years in exchange for Melo, who POTENTIALLY clogs up 53 Mil over next 2 years. This isn't young, cheap talent we are getting. These guys are high priced lottery tickets. Awful deal for Knicks. No reason to do it. Let him sulk and rot in our armpit of the NBA. If he hates it that much, he'll walk after the season and save us another year of 27 mil. But he'll poison the locker room. The locker room is already far beyond poisoned - it's been dead for 10 + years. This is the frigging carousel of the Knicks ineptitude - taking bad situations and making them even worse by falling for these crap deals.

Ryan Anderson's large contract is a product of the 2016 enormous cap jump, like many contracts signed last summer when teams were flush with cap room. Now, there are plenty of other contracts signed that year that now look even more overpriced than Anderson or just as overpriced (Ajinca, Mozgov, Deng, Solomon Hill, Crabbe, etc.) and these teams will gladly take Ryno in exchange for their contracts.

The issue is, though, will any of these contracts be palatable to NY?

Melo should shorten his list to just Houston and really put the clamps on the Knicks. They need to feel the pressure for this to happen. I also have to feel like they want a drama free new beginning to their next era. So holding onto the man doesn't make sense.

Correct, except that the Knicks don't want Leonard, so that's where the 4th team comes in... Doc Rocket said that one of the 4th team options to take Leonard is Phoenix.

Rox likely will have to give up a 1st rounder, or maybe just two 2nd rounders. I think the sticking point is that in order to get the 4th team involved, we need an extra pick thrown in, and Morey is standing his ground, saying that NY ought to pony up with that extra pick, not us.

That would do a lot. It must be hard for the new GM to turn down Channing Frye and Iman Shumpert from Cleveland.
The Knicks have zero pressure to make this deal. I hope he gets traded, but the deal has to make sense. We have to shed salary (not defer it w overpaid guys like Harkless and Leonard0

You shed salaries with the NGs the rockets will send, the price for taking Leonard.

Looks like NY gets the better deal if that's the case.

I wish we could absorb Leonard. We can't because of his contract, but I'm sure he'd be a valuable 3rd or 4th center.

not with that contract, we can't afford to have 10 mil/yr being given to a useless player
