It will likely take a few losing seasons in a row for him to get fired. We've won the division the last few years

A GM can't do much when your franchise player is a loser and fake leader. 2-14 season. 0-40 Playoff humiliation.

I don't think you can quantify it in years. It pretty much comes down to whether or not Watson is a hit or a miss. If Watson turns out to be a bust Smith and O'Brien are done here. If Watson turns out to be the real deal O'Brien gets an extension and Smith will be here for a while.

I actually don't think D. W. is the issue. So many "experts" were high on him. If the Texan's squander a once in a lifetime defense and don't go to the SB while they are in their prime, that will likely do it. It won't be on D.W.

Drafting Watson is a genius move by Rick Smith because even if Watson fails, it will take a while for people to know. Smith's job is secure for at least 3 years while Watson's potential still exist.

This along with Ricky getting BOB fired was what this offseason is all about.

    OBrien wanted Deshaun.

Rick just gets who the coaches want.

    Confirmed in interview with OBrien

    Hows he a nazi?

Also hes one of the only owners to hire a black gm so you shouldnt pull your typical racism card on him.

Also we drafted a black QB.

How is he racist or a nazi?

Well Obrien said Rick doesn't get the coaches guys they don't want. Also that they've never had to go to McNair with a disagreement. So Obrien was on board.

Fits his pattern too. Saw him up close in a previous training camp and likes overpaying for guys

You know, because O'Brien likes 1)QBs with accuracy issues and 2)QBs who turn the ball over a lot -- those are at the top of his list.

    Sheesh.

    Neither of those aren't true.

They went to McNair when O'Brien wanted to cut Mallett for missing the flight.

And O'Brien has questioned Rick's/McNair's players and process since he arrived.

He's playing the media game. He's leaving these fools. And Rick will ensure that the next coach won't ever question his decisions.

Wait, so you "saw" O'Brien at a practice and deduced he likes overpaying for guys? LOL.

Since when did O'Brien become a GM?

    Keeping spinning.

    He is not. At all.

He just meddles in football decisions when he doesn't know anything about football. Like signing Ed Reed. And Brock. Those two alone picked his pockets so bad they should've been arrested.

All of the stuff I'm saying came from Obriens interview.

All the stuff you've said is speculation from leaks (leaks from Obriens camp to protect him him)

No I didn't see him in a camp. OBrien saw Osweiler in practice and overpaid for him. Just like Chicken and Shrimp.

Also 2 picks for Jaelen Strong and 2 first rounders for Watson. The Lamar Miller contract is bad. Unlike Crennel, he overpays for his guys.

    I think you're wrong.

After X number of years it should be obvious that Ricky isn't the man to bring this city a championship. If bringing a championship is even a goal of the McNair's.

Denial is thinking obrien is a great coach when he's built a perennial bottom 5 offense.

    I agree with this post.

Difference is O'Brien was a young coach who's teams made the playoffs the last 2 years. Smith has been here for over a decade, including a 2-14 season and now the Texans finish 9-7 the last 3 years and Smith deserves more time? I guess if you're happy with the status quo Smith is your guy. BTW, I blame the Brock signing and the Watson pick on Ricky.

Denial is thinking the Texans will ever win a SB with Rick Smith as GM.

BTW, I'm fine with firing both BOB and Smith as long as that means Smith is gone. But that aint gonna happen.

I don't like Smith either. Both should be gone.

O'Brien pretty clearly said he wanted Watson though
