Derrick Rose does not belong in the NBA anymore. His game doesn't fit. He's only meant to be a #1 option and isn't close to good enough to be that.

Either he should find a way to relish a 6th man role, or go overseas and ball out.

When asked how ball dominant Rose would fit alongside exciting playmaking Giannis, Kidd replied, "we men."

He's not a starter anymore but to say his game doesn't fit is strange considering its basically the exact same game as Westbrook. Last year he finished around the rim at 55.7%, Westbrook is at 57.2%. Of those points at the rim, 14.8% of Westbrook's were unassisted, 18% of Rose were unassisted. So he's beating guys off the dribble roughly around the same rate as Westbrook and finishing roughly around the same rate. Its also a myth he's not a great shooter, he's just a poor 3 point shooter. He has a fairly good mid range game for a guard and can create space. Plus if you put him up against a teams backup PG, his efficiency will only increase.

Milwaukee was 4th in the league last year with finishes around the rim (under 5 feet) shooting at a very high rate of 61%. However, they ranked as one of the worst mid-range games in the league.

Rose can also defend the pick and roll pretty well.

If you bring him off the bench, for 20 min he's exactly what Milwaukee needs. A creator / scorer who can still do some things well. Don't ask too much of him.

Rose only cares about getting paid. I used to say that and was like what a sucky player, but now I can't blame them. But he got that way before the Warriors and KD.

He won't be down for that, that's why I said if he finds a way to relish the 6th man role...then he has a shot of continuing his career for another few years.

    His ego/attitude is too big.

Yes, but Kidd is exactly the type of player who could show him how to be a very good older PG who lost a step athletically and wasn't a lights out shooter.

The move could go backwards but the Bucks are capped out so what other choice do they have?

I thought he had 18 ppg with the Knicks.... on 47%FG and 4.4 apg

I never realized how bad of a 3pt shooter he was....and he won MVP inspite of it.

    Still an NBA player.

When he tore his meniscus I immediately thought he should really take a look at Milwaukee this off-season. They have enough versatile young guys to reduce his minutes and take some of the wear off him. He'll have to sacrifice money but with him playing max 30 mpg he should be more effective and probably be able to extend his career. Bucks have pretty sub par pg play but with Rose, and Brogdan off the bench that should be a formidable pg rotation in the east, not a big fan of Delli

Rose can still play if he gets his head straight. He can still beat players off the dribble and get to the basket and finish at a high rate. He just isn't a primary option any more. If he accepts a reduced role, and more importantly a reduced salary, there is no reason why he can't stick around for another three years in the league.

Now that you jinxed him, he might show up to the meeting early 2018-late 2020

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...ks-discussing-date-second-free-agency-meeting

Representatives for free-agent point guard Derrick Rose and officials from the Milwaukee Bucks are in discussions to schedule a meeting as early as this weekend, league sources told ESPN.

Once a date is finalized, the meeting is expected to occur in Los Angeles, sources said.

The two sides have already met once during free agency to discuss pairing Rose, the 2011 NBA MVP, with the Bucks' nucleus of rising star Giannis Antetokounmpo, sharpshooter Khris Middleton and Rookie of the Year recipient Malcolm Brogdon.

While playing in the triangle offense in his lone season with the New York Knicks, Rose averaged 18.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and shot a respectable 47 percent from the field.

The main obstacle on an agreement to relocate to Milwaukee has been compensation.

Milwaukee is approximately $1.6 million over the tax. The Bucks have $7.6 million of the full mid-level exception available but can use only $4.4 million to sign a free agent. Exceeding a salary of $4.4 million would trigger the NBA hard cap and restrict the Bucks from exceeding salaries of $125.2 million. Currently, Milwaukee has a payroll of $120.7 million. In order to make a more lucrative proposition, the Bucks have to shed salary via a trade.

Big man John Henson could be a prime trade candidate.

There is mutual interest and motivation from both sides on finding the 6-11 center a new home, league sources tell ESPN. Henson, a shot-blocking specialist, has three years and $32 million remaining on his contract.

Rose, 28, is arguably the top free agent remaining on the board. He has also had a summer meeting with the LA Clippers. The Bucks presently have three point guards on the roster in Brogdon, Matthew Dellavedova and Gary Payton II.

If we didn't have the two point gods on our team, I wouldn't mind picking up Rose for a cheap 1 year flyer.
