I thought the most interesting thing in the article is how Chandler Parsons' contract has become the standard of measurement to evaluate other players' contract values. lol.

"This is Boston’s last chance to make a big splash in free agency with this core. Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, and Marcus Smart will be free agents next season, and they are all going to want big contracts. Thomas ($6 million) and Bradley ($8 million) are on two of the most team-friendly deals in the entire league, while Smart is still on his rookie contract. Add all three of their salaries up together and they still make less than Chandler Parsons. Pay them anywhere close to their market value and the Celtics will be over the cap with a group that lacks the pieces necessary to compete with the Cavs."

Ainge overplayed his hand, values draft picks way too much and if it wasn't for him being white and a former player of the Celtics, the media would've torn him several new ones over recent years.

In hindsight, Boston should have taken Fultz. They could stand pat one more year (let Fultz develop) and then either trade Thomas away or let him walk.

I'm not sure if Jaylen Brown will pan out, nor if Tatum can develop fast enough to take advantage of a crap East.

Being white and a former Knicks player didn't save Phil Jackson. Ainge is getting media heat, what buffers it for him is having built a tittle team with the Pierce, Allen and KG group.

Phil has an attitude, flaps his mouth and was in a place that is under scrutiny as it is. Totally different situation.

Ainge has the credibility of winning a championship as insulation to keep the heat off. But the fact he whiffed this offseason can't be denied if they miss on Hayward.

Their immediate window is closing. They cannot win a championship if IT is their best player.

This could all work out if they end up with Michael Porter next year but odds are they will not.

This could all work out if one of their picks won the lottery and landed the #1 pick. rinse and repeat

First of all I don't believe for a minute that the Celtics offered what some media are reporting. (LAL/Sac pick, Crowder and Smart).
Every single time Ainge doesn't do a trade it's the usual post spinning. "oh they were unreasonable." Oh, they didn't want to take our assets and do trades with us" BS

The funny part is that even their fans have fully embraced Ainge's looking only for bargains thinking. I have seen multiple Celtics fans claiming they will only trade their assets for AD -apart from the BKN pick. lol? Seriously?

Secondly, Ainge for a good while now is walking in two incompatible roads. You can't win now with vets, AND build with picks. High picks need to play lots of minutes to develop. That leads to losses. Vets need playing time in their contract years (Smart, Bradley, IT).

That's why Ainge is literally burning his way through tens of picks lately .They simply can't even try to develop them all.

Thirdly even though I will enjoy the breakdown that will come if they miss on Hayward it will be worse if they actually get him. THat will be locking on a treadmilling overpriced core with no superstar that 2/3 of it are either old or about to age very soon.

The Celtics fans are pretty delusional. They seems to believe that their draft picks will all turn into Butler/George quality players, and have came up with some BS reasoning to justify this belief. They think just because Jaylen Brown have put up similar performance & stats in his rookie year as Paul George & Jimmy Butler's rookie season, that somehow means Jaylen Brown is on tract to become a younger version of these 2 players. What they conveniently ignore is that there's nothing special about Paul George & Jimmy Butler's rookie season, plenty of rookies have put up similar if not superior #s and most of them have turned into role players or complete busts. What's special about their career path is that not only have they managed to improve every year, they managed to make some unexpected leaps as well.

The most risky move in Danny Ainge's life was throwing the ball at Mario Elie's head while he was not looking.

Once Elie and Hakeem went over to him to beat his ass to pulp, he apologized right away but was traumatized for life.

Not taking any risks no more.

    Punk ass b****.

I feel like he had the best offer and he knew it, but indiania said screw you and traded him to okc. Maybe their excuse was they wanted to trade him to the west (poor excuse considering he is set on LA). They wanted more out of ainge and he never budged.

I don't know, that's what Jeff Goodman was reporting and supposedly echoed by others. Sounds like the Pacers just didn't want to send him to a competing Eastern Conference team.

At the price of 3 picks? I don't buy that one bit...if true the owner needs to fire the GMs asap. Bird needs to resign
