    There's really no reason to get "leverage" in order to get that 5th year if he wants it, that's the ONLY thing the Clippers have going for them. They are effectively trying to get him to throw the rest of his career away for a 5 year deal as opposed to walking in FA.

    We have to clear cap space first .

    Since Paul will play at guard ; 2/3 of Lou, Beverley, and Gordon need to go .

    That alone isn't enough.

    The biggest salary we can get rid of is Ryan's, but given his poor play and years remaining , I'm not so optimistic we can move him. If we can I think it will come at a cost.

    Ariza also could go.

    Either way , obtaining Paul would be a major shakeup and it will be interesting to see what happens.

    Even if CP3 doesn't sign this should really weaken (and honestly kill...) the stupid talks and rumors that James Harden doesn't want to play with other ball dominant guards and refuses to let another person be the point guard of the team.

    There's rumors saying they are reluctant to give him 5 years, this could be leverage for that if they aren't offering it.

    Maybe package Bev and Anderson together? Bev is probably our best asset right now. Can Utah take on that much salary?
