Per Woj, Gasol has declined his $16.2 million player option and will take a paycut on a multi-year deal to help the Spurs with salary relief for the upcoming season.

Really sucks to be an NBA fan if you aren't a fan of one of 3-4 teams. Crazy to think that despite being the 4th largest city in America we have to offer every penny available to our star player and cross out fingers and hope he won't leave.

I thought this could be a path for Spurs/Gasol.

He gets a multi-year deal, but can retire after this year or next, and still by virtue of NBA contract rules get his money (it will still count towards the cap). If he figures he'll play 1 more year, he can sign a three year deal starting at like $7 million a year, get $21+ million over the next three years, but only play the one more year.

Well, i mean, they build their culture, if we can't, is it their fault. Back to hoping we got good sleeves.

The Spurs have basiacally to unload Parker now.

I wonder how many bad teams with cap space are out there this summer, if there're just a couple might not be easy for them to dump Parker, but others teams will have to offer better than a 1st, a 2nd and Kyle Anderson i guess.

Damn, the Spurs are less a basketball team and more a cult. Once they drink the special drink, they lose interest in money and care only about The Franchise.

Next, Parker will ask to renegotiate his salary down to the veteran's minimum.

They'll trade to to Nets/Sixers etc and give a 1st round pick. A lot of team are way under the cap.

So no more Parker and Manu and they replace them with Chris Paul

    WOW>

Paul, Leroy, LaMarsha = Better than Warriors

    It's on!!!!

Don't see the Sixers having interest in these kind of moves at this point, they're going to use cap space to upgrade imo.

Nets, Kings are definitely in play, other teams though? Needs to be a bad/tanking team with cap space.

If people think we can move Ryan Anderson, the Spurs can definitely move Tony Parker.

Bobby Marks thinks Lowry could be their potential target.

"I think it's Kyle Lowry. I don't think he'll get a max contract in Toronto. Can you sign Lowry for $25M there? There's no state taxes there."
