Iverson wasn't really a playmaker in that sense. Kyrie should hone his skills in making plays. As he has already shown.
1st option and 2nd option are usually totally different on what type of defense they face, unless you are KD and SC. KI as a first option would look way worse than he is doing now as the second option to LJ.
Kyrie is very good, I'd say top 10 at this point, but not as good as Iverson at his peak. I don't think Irving has the consistency or the intangibles to rival Iverson. Just look at how bad Cleveland's record is when LeBron sits. Irving looks great, has amazing finishes and high degree of difficulty shots, but for some reason it just hasn't translated to wins with him as the best player. Maybe that will change.
Mmmh..not sure, Iverson maybe wasn't that efficient etc, but what i know is that Iverson with a decent team went to the finals one time and led his team to the playoffs multiple times. Irving on the other end wasn't even able to lead his team near the playoffs.
Playmaker in what sense exactly? Kyrie is a playmaker (at this point and time in his career) in terms of getting himself a good shot either at the rim or with a pull-up jumper. Now if you're talking about playmaking for the benefit of the team and racking up assists, neither has done that particularly well. That's when the playmaking ability of LeBron came in handy to compliment that of Kyrie. Both were playmakers but in different fashions of the word.
Iverson was a product of his era--he played iso-ball at a time when teams tasked their go-to guy with beating their guy one-on-one and hoisting shots they created themselves, for the most part. "Creating for others" was how lesser players scored. I think Iverson would be more efficient if he came out of college today, onto an analytics-friendly team and played in an offense tailored to creating space around him and getting him open. Irving plays '90s ball in 2017.
Does this ngga Durant even watch basketball? Iverson was amazing. irving is good, but Iverson was a 2 tiers above Kyrie due to longevity, lack of superstar support, and pure quickness.
If Iverson played in today's NBA, he'd either be the best or 2nd-best PG in the league and in the conversation for MVP. He's easily better than Irving in nearly every way.
Westbrook is Iverson on steroid. Iverson is Irving on steroid. But when comparing Irving to Iverson, one has to ask: Does Iverson believe in flat earth?
Maybe kyrie has better handles and a better 3 pt shooter while AI is a better scorer. AI's first step is one of a kind ,he can just blow by anyone guarding him one on one then once he blow by people he would just do a jump step and throw his soft floater. It was unstoppable especially in the time when zone defense is not allowed in the nba.
