It's the new hand measurement - remember when that was a thing? Ah, the good ol' days.

I read that list before from the combine. This fellow had a nice tweet. Of the 30 QB's who threw under 53....only 1 made
a pro bowl (Tyrod Taylor 50 mph).

Ive said it before on how to defend Watson:
    1) put 8 men in the box to prevent the run.
    2) maintain a pocket for containment (Michael Vick-RG III rule). Make him throw over those 6'6" guys.
    3) jam the receivers at the line of scrimmage (rarely saw Clemson receivers get jammed) to throw off timing.
.......with press contact, I would instruct DB's to key on receiver inside shld to take away quick slant & force
.......Watson pass to sideline. Sit on that outside passing lane. It's going to look like a lollipop. Schaub-like.
    4) shake......rinse........and repeat. Mix in a blitz up the A-gap every once in awhile & rolling coverages.

Schaub was crucified for throwing 14 interceptions his last year with Houston. 12 the year before.
Jamies Winston threw 18 interceptions his last year in college...15 his rookie year...then back up to 18 last yr.
Watson threw 17 interceptions last year at Clemson. Rookie year??? 2nd year???

Many here don't care and want to look the other way. I believe in analytics and also what Benjamin
Allbright tweeted here: "2 mph ball velocity might not seem like a big deal, but it translates to 3 ft
travelled on 20 yd throw in the same time frame. Huge NFL window."

None of that matters because it goes against the narrative.

Just because we don't want to dwell on the weaknesses of a player doesn't mean we are looking away. We are aware that Mr Watson has weaknesses but we are also aware that a lot of QBs had weaknesses coming out of college. Just like any of them, there are things that he does well and things he doesn't do well. We are hoping that like the good NFL QBs, Deshaun will improve and work on his weaknesses. Experts have looked at his tape and they don't see anything that can't be fixed. Plus Analytics might be right most of the time but not all the time. We are not going to dump on him just because the ball doesn't go as fast as some arbitrary number.

We still don't know how to interpret velocity, or if it can be improved.

At this point there isn't enough data to say it's a problem.

No, what matters is throwing exactly 55-56 mph... Bc if you throw 57+, then your long term qb % drops significantly...lower than if you throw 53 mph or less.

There were a couple of QB's who came in throwing under 55 and improved over time.

Of course it doesn't matter. Nobody but you buy into that type of nonsense. But hey Brock velocity was what again?

Matt Ryan Drew Brees and Tom Brady had weak arms coming into the NFL. Each one of them can sling it with the best of them.

Agreed Mr. Clutch there isn't much data but we both know Bobbythegreat loves to go off the deep end. Especially when he doesn't like a certain player.

Correction all QBs coming into the NFL have both Strengths and Weaknesses.

Some people are upset with that selection so whenever these so called experts start throwing out stuff like this velocity bullcrap. They take it and run with it like its been used for 30 years.

It's cool, we don't really have to have this conversation, you can keep singing "All he does is win" while ignoring everything that isn't overly positive.

He is nowhere close to being a Tim Tebow type. How disrespectful. And he's better than your trash Brock Osweiler and Ryan Mallett.

But hey we all know you're the great quarterback whisper. All of your prediction have been spot on.

That's exactly how you are talking about him though.....so perhaps you should stop being disrespectful to him instead of pulling a Skip Bayless.

Oh and please stop eating everything the media/ so called experts put on your table. Learn to think for yourself son. Do your own evaluation and stop being freaking lazy. You never talked about Velocity until you heard some wise guy say that about Watson.

Sports Science had him at 53.5 so it would appear he is in a class of his own. THROW ALL COMPARISONS OUT THE WINDOW!
