Simple question. I know the guy is pretty good, but he just seems destined to lose a big game for us down the road. If I were Jeff, I might look for a closer at the deadline, rather than starting pitching.

I think with Morton, the astros have 3 top flight sp, which is more than enough.

If I was in a bar fight? Yes.

As a closer? No so much.

Trust is relative. I trust him more than Gregorson, Peacock, Sipp, and Feliz.

Hoyt is only guy I see that could unseat Giles as one of top 3 relievers internally. That said, I expect Hoyt more likely takes Gregorson's spot for medium leverage innings.

Simple Questions: Should the Astros include Kyle Tucker in a package to trade for Austin Hedges? And, is it wrong to keep Kyle Tucker "stashed" in the minor leagues? And is Austin Hedges a better prospect than Kyle Tucker?

As of now, he still has room for improvement.

He is, however, improving in certain aspects of pitching from last year. Still young enough with tremendous stuff to grow towards being elite.

I think he is a "good" closer. But he's not elite, yet. If I were GM I would be open to adding a closer provided an elite one was available for a decent price. But if they go into the playoffs with Devenski, Harris, and Giles all healthy I won't be sweating it.

He's a solid player. He's not an elite closer. But not a ton of guys are in this league. Nor is it imperative to have a top 5 closer instead of a top 12 closer to be successful.

I'm as worried about Morton being the #3 starter as I am about Giles being the closer. Morton is just as liable to blow up the 3rd time through the order as Giles is to blow a save in the ninth.

This is true of virtually every good pitcher in baseball.

Not even a little bit. He's got a real Mitch Williams light vibe. Giles seems to have trouble controlling his emotions which I think is partly why his appearances can vary so drastically.

This is so far out of left field it bypassed the fowl pole and busted a window in Union Station.

Morton won't be pitching third time through the order in playoffs even if he stays healthy and Astros don't acquire a better SP.

Astros can use a #2 type starter, a LHRP and possibly another late inning reliever/closer
