I'm thinking Watson. Maybe even after multiple starts. Yeah, I know. Drinking the coolaid.

Watson will start the first quarter, throw 2 interceptions, be replaced by Tom Savage back after being benched two games before, who will proceed to get hurt and yield the game back to Watson. The next game will be started by Brandon Weeden.

"It's not that big of a deal Brian. We're proud of our quarterbacks."

The "other" option doesn't do Brandon weeden justice. Simply disrespectful!

Best case scenario it's Savage but who knows? He could be hurt or the Texans could have given up on the season by Christmas.

Well the BEST case scenario is that Watson comes into camp and looks like a superstar and forces Bob's hand and he ends up on the field playing like a tremendous rookie.

But I get what you mean.

That's fair, we should always leave some room open for a miracle.

Best case is Savage balling out honestly. Then we have capital in both Watson and a franchised Savage next summer.

Yep. I think best case is not to have to worry about paying Savage starter money next year.

Agreed unless he shows franchise qb talent. I can't subscribe to the belief that Savage playing well is a bad thing. If he's just average, I see your point.

    Edit: badly changed to well

If Savage plays well, then that's not the best case scenario because your starting QB will be making $15 million next year instead of being on a rookie contract. It's not a bad scenario, it's just not best case.

We spent "one" first round draft pick on Watson. I agree with you that any scenario where he hasn't outright won the starting job at some point isn't the BEST case scenario, even if it is a good scenario.

I'm thinking if Savage plays well enough to earn $15 mil then we should franchise and trade him. That sounds like a near best case to me, especially in a year where we have no first or 2nd round pick. Need to mitigate that damage some way, and it'd be nice if it wasn't just spending cap dollars.

I hope not; Browns have our top 2 picks

Well hopefully our defense will be good enough to prevent things from getting TOO bad no matter what happens.

The franchise tag is still more expensive than the rookie contract. The team will have more money on getting more talent via free agency IF it is paying its starting QB on a rookie contract. I'm not saying I would hate Savage playing well enough to earn the franchise tag; just saying that it is not best case. Maybe Savage plays only one good game and he agrees to come back but as a backup. Then you'll have a backup QB that has been in the system for 4 years.

I agree with you for the most part. I still think that if Savage plays well enough to garner the franchise tag, we do that and immediately trade him for an early round pick. This is possibly NE's strategy with Jimmy G. That sounds like a better scenario to me than almost any alternative.

I'm starting to think they should throw Watson out there. Get this party started. Why delay the inevitable? He's slated to be the successor anyways.
