Great fit for Conner to stay in Pittsburgh. Literally the Pittsburgh region's version of Foreman to the Texans.

He already practices in the stadium and is friends with half the team.

Frank Coyle had him rated as 5th best back and a 3rd rounder...

    5. * D’Onta Foreman #33 - 6-0, 235, Texas - Sp. 4.45 Rating 85
Physical big-play north-south runner is moving on to the next level after an outstanding junior season for the Longhorns. Earned Big 12 first team honors in 2016, his only starting season. Strong thick frame with muscle definition throughout his body. As a runner, he has a physical style and uses his fine body strength to lower his shoulder and power through defenders and arm tackles. Tough, aggressive finisher with a downhill style and usually falls forward for extra yards. Short stride allows him to change directions easily with the

burst to accelerate to top speed very quickly. Shows fine long speed to run away from defenders and hit many big plays. Fine balance and the ability to change speeds and directions, though primarily a one cut runner. His run vision is good as he properly reads blocks, sees the opening and keeps his pads square to the line. As a pass catcher, he shows reliable hands whether making the reception in space or close quarters. Limited experience as a receiver and needs reps and route development to become more polished. Aggressive and somewhat effective in pass protection, though needs to learn better hand usage to sustain blocks. Durability and toughness are big pluses, as he's been able to play through minor injuries. In 2016 especially late in the season, he faced a lot of eight-man fronts and was still able to be very effective. Definitely the main weapon in an inconsistent offense. Shows fine endurance and wants the ball in key situations. Once he got through the initial contact, he was a potential home run on any given play. Ultimately, a three-down back with development as a receiver and in pass protection.
The Numbers: As a junior, he started 10 of 11 games and rushed for 2028 yards on 323 carries for a 6.3 yard average and 15 TDs. He caught just 7 passes for 75 yards and no TDs. As a sophomore, he rushed for 681 yards on 95 carries for a 7.2 average and 5 TDs. He caught just 5 passes for 64 yards and no TDs. Over his career, he started only 10 of 28 games and rushed for 2782 yards on 433 carries for a 6.4 yard average with 20 rushing TDs and 13 catches with no TDs. At the NFL Combine, he came in at 6’ and 233 lbs. He did not run and did 18 reps with no further events. At the Texas pro day, he came at 6’ and 234 lbs. and ran 4.45 time with a 33” VL and a 10’ BJ. Looked good in positional drills especially catching the ball with sound technique in blocking drills.
The Skinny: Tough specimen with well-developed skills to be an NFL feature back. Natural runner has proven to be a tough workhorse with strong lower unit and the speed to change games. One cut straight line back with the ability to shift gears, follow blockers and break plays. Combines the size, speed, quickness and power to run between the tackles and the agility to get outside. Athlete with enough quickness to make the corner and the burst to make plays. Durable talent probably goes in the top 100 prospects and capable of being a quality feature back similar to Eddie Lacy and Karlos Williams in size, style and power. Fine 2nd day addition with starting talent.
    Draft Projection: 3rd Round

No. Only 1 OLineman went in round 1. Olinemen were falling like Trump's poll numbers tonight because no one was picking them.

Drafting for NEED....when no one is rated high enough for your pick......is DUMB. Draft best player available at another position you have a lesser need is SMART.

I like the pick, he could be a better upgrade over Alfred Blue, and maybe the future starting running back for Texans.

Does this mean that we give up on Tyler Ervin?

Same concerns as everyone else.... Where is our RT?

Don't get me wrong, Cushing is toast next year so we needed an ILB, but Foreman seems like a luxury pick.

Regardless, not going to be shocked if he becomes a Frank Gore style workhorse. Guy has solid pro written all over him.

If they are thinking right, it is more about Alfred Blue and Grimes than Ervin. Ervin's competition is Akeem Hunt.

Would have liked that to happen also but they went out and grabbed a QB, (you don't wait for those to fall in your lap) and how do you pass up on Zach Cunningham at 57?
They probably could have taken BPA T at 89 but it looks to me Foreman was part of their strategy going into this draft.

    Really !?!? : )

I'm your Huckleberry, Mr. Scarface. How about a friendly NFL handicapping challenge this year....Let's pick against the spread, week to week, every game...Right through to the end of the regular season. 500.00 to the tip jar....OR.. We COULD get more folks involved....however much apiece....would be a good way to raise money for the site...would definitely be a fun time/thread...at least we'd find out who really knows football. : )-

Grimes is Gone. He is a Free Agent. Ervin is a multi-purpose back (Returner also). Foreman is a power back. Running inside the Tackles. Lamar Miller's strength is running off-tackle.....not up the middle. Blue is the player in the cross hairs.

He always looked like a good blocker to me but a lot of people are saying he is very bad at it.

Heh, you've gotta cut him a bit of slack, he's been over the top excited since he heard the Watson pick, I'm sure he doesn't mean anything by it.
