IT means nothing without the W ESPN. Didn;t they learn anything from last year? 73 wins is nothing without the rings??
ESPN *slightly* redeems themselves, with this blurb: Westbrook goes ice cold in the fourth. Russell Westbrook goes 4-of-18 in the final frame, which plays a big part in the Rockets coming back to beat the Thunder and take a 2-0 series lead.
Good lord - listening to NBATV makes me want to gouge my remaining eye out about how poor Russ has no help. Harden, Williams & Gordon took 47 FG's and scored 79 points, Russ took 45 and scored 51. Who is the MVP? The guy who jacked up a billion shots and lost. You know what you have to do if you want help? LET THE HELP HELP AND NOT USE THEM AS BOX OUT DUMMIES.
the good news is that with any luck, Westbrick's season will be over in two more games and we won't have to listen to it anymore
he also set an NBA playoff record with most shots taken in a quarter (18), and tied the playoff record for most missed field goals in 1 game (26)....record breaking night for Russ
I guarantee you Harden would make Oladipo, Kanter, Adams and McDermott into offensive weapons if he had them at his disposal.
I love how McDermott shot 80% from the field but only got 12 mins on the floor. A team that clearly needs outside shooters has one play well, then get hidden on the bench. I really don't want to hear that he can't play defense and that's why he doesn't get any time on the floor either. It's all about strengths and weaknesses. We roll out a line up with 3 to sometimes 4 very suspect defenders pretty much 100% of the time. Sometimes you have to sacrifice to have a little bit of offensive firepower. Or, I don't know, maybe you can just have one guy shoot as many fga in the fourth quarter as Harden averaged per game this season and somehow find a way to win.
Westbrook takes the most shots ever in a quarter in the playoffs, and also ties the nba record for most misses in a quarter in the playoffs. All this while making numerous awful decisions and a good majority of his misses were ill-advised, rushed shots. Basically, he completely ruined his team's chances of winning the game almost single-handedly. And what does nba.com do? They make a highlight video to specifically commemorate it, showing the four 'ok' things he managed to do in his record-breakingly bad quarter. No mention of anything negative at all. http://www.nba.com/games/20170419/OKCHOU#/video The conspiracy is real.
That is truly embarrassing. It's also embarrassing that I get paid ads from TNT with Westbrook highlights when his team is down 2-0 and he's shot them out of the gym. I get it: gaudy numbers attract eyeballs and they've done everything in their power to promote him among casual fans. But, true basketball fans know how detrimental he is to his team. Yes, they would've been lucky to win 30 games without him. But, in the playoffs, a one-man band doesn't get it done and the paper tiger is being exposed.
