Chuck on Zach Randolph: "We got a lot of basketball players who can run & jump like a deer... This guy can't jump over a jelly glazed donut. He's been a hell of a player for a long time." Kenny: Over a jelly glazed donut? Who says that analogy?
Shaq hates the grizzlies. He's never picked the grizzlies to win any series, and never has anything nice to say about them.
I wasn't planning to, but if Memphis wins game 4 I will tune in for game 5 so long as it doesn't interfere with my busy schedule of doing nothing.
They are going to suspend Jamychal for that elbow. They did it to Zach a few years back. It will be just one more thing the grizzlies will have to overcome.
It amazes me how Popovich can essentially throw away a playoff game like that and not take any heat for it. Two turnovers and a couple missed defensive assignments is no reason to bench your entire starting lineup including Kawhi for the last quarter and a half of a game, especially when you are only down 9. I realize Pop is basically a demigod on here and is beyond reproach in all basketball matters, but it's frustrating to watch as a fan. That being said I don't think that was the difference in the game, the grizzlies just wanted it more tonight.
I'm pretty sure that Pop knows what he's doing. The Spurs aren't going to lose this series as Memphis is outmatched here and Pop knows this. If he puts the bench in it shows trust and allows them to get some playoff experience while throwing a curveball to the other teams halftime adjustments. It's the type of move you can make when you're up 2-0 in a series which you basically dominated in the first two games. It also gives your starters more rest which is always helpful to get through the western conference playoffs. If Memphis wins game 4 I will be shocked. I think this series ends in game 5. No offense to our Memphis buddy who likes to post on a Rockets website for some weird reason, @what
Maybe the grizzlies do lose in game 4. I don't pretend to know what the grizzlies are or are not going to do. Or the adjustments pop will or won't make. I'm just proud that our arena was once again an electric place to play a game in and I am glad I saw zbo doing zbo things for as long as it lasts.
I picked the Spurs in 5 and I still think that'll happen. But Pop is playing with fire. The Grizzlies have played the Spurs tough this year. They have a little bit of momentum going. And BTW, there was yet another free throw disparity in favor of San Antonio in Game 3. The Spurs attempted 28 to the Grizzlies' 20. Ironically, Memphis made 18 and San Antonio only connected on 16, but what happens if the refs finally send the Grizzlies to the line more than the Spurs in Game 4? And the longer this series drags on, the more time Tony Allen has to heal. Like I said, I still think it'll be Spurs in 5. But Memphis ain't gonna lay down. San Antonio will have to play a great game on Saturday to get a 3-1 lead.
