Yes and no defensive juggernaut collapses like the 18th best d unit in the L.

It has been a font of amusement to me for months to have to read " well to be fair to Westbrook, we have to mitigate for the fact he plays with a ball hog like Westbrook " arguments made in earnest like above

Our defensive obviously collapsed well enough to keep the 16th best offense in check, didn't it?

The irony is that Westbrook is making OKC's supporting cast suck even more with his ball-hogging. There were a lot of one superstar teams in the past, and they didn't all play like the current OKC. If your whole purpose on the court is to just stand idly by watching your best player do everything only to receive occasional passes from him in order to pad his assist numbers, is it a coincidence that you kind of forget how to play basketball without him?

This is why Westbrook having not enough help is kinda like self-fulfilling prophecy. It's true that Westbrook doesn't have great talent around him, but the way he plays makes the situation even worse. Spurs didn't win 60 games because they have multiple superstars on that team. If you want to go further as a team, at some point you have to sit back and let your teammates develop their own game.

No. He's still better than a lot of other GM's out there.

All we've heard all season is Westbrook is surrounded by absolutely incompetent players who provide "no help". Doesn't sound like a good GM to me!

the refs were more bias towards okc all game so why bring them up?

if the rockets slapped at the ball they would be going to the line especially since they were in the bonus for a long stretch.

He definitely made some bad moves, but at the very least, OKC is loaded with young players. If anything, they're built more for the future than for now.

All in all, I thought the refs were pretty fair. There was a lot of physical play by both teams under the basket, and I don't remember many fouls being called down there.

Can you name some egregious missed calls?

Bev is an ALL NBA player. great Defense. Shutting down Westbrook

Lou and EG are the best players off the bench in the entire NBA

17 for 43. Got shut down by Bev again.

Bev got him in his head

Media will ignore the great defense and the poor FG%

Worst 4th quarter by a superstar in a close game in years. Russ took his team OUT of a game they had control of for 3 quarters.

hopefully it will all be over soon. The real feat will be how the media will manage to bring up Westbrook if he's sitting at home with spalding.

Westbrook played a whale of game but reverted to his mindless aggression in the 4th. Whereas Harden played a very calculated game and won. He's just a better player and he should be credited with the Rockets winning 50+ games regularly. It's too bad his game isn't fan friendly or he'd have had two MVPs by now.

Westbrook has help he just sucks at making them better. Tonight was a perfect example of this. Roberson, Adams, Gibson, Grant, and McDermott shot a combined 17 for 30 from the floor tonight and they only had 1 turnover combined. It's not like these guys are incapable of contributing but Westbrick decides to play hero ball and goes 17 for 43 including 4 for 18 in the fourth quarter.

Maybe, just maybe if Westbrick had taken about 15 less shots for the game and given those up to some of his teammates the Thunder would have had a better chance of stealing game 2. Instead, he chose to stat pad and while he had a great game for the first three quarters he ran out of juice in the 4th and most of his teammates had long since been iced out of the picture and were not in the flow of the offense.

We've seen a lot of chuckers in the NBA over the years. Iverson, Kobe, Melo, Tmac, but none of them have ever put on a chucking display that rivals what we saw from Westbrick tonight. It's no wonder Durant left that team. It's also sad that Harden is going to lose the MVP award to this stat chaser.
