I don't think it was a bad decision to try for 3 at all. It took a perfect relay just to nail him. 8/10 he's going to get that base.

In a tighter game where a run can be the difference, he probably plays that more conservative. Outside of that good things happen when you remain aggressive and put pressure on opposing defense

It was a kinda boring game. I can see both sides and considering it was the bottom of the 8th and we tacked on a run I kinda liked the aggression.

But surely your intelligent self can conjure some educated guesses. Here's two....

    1) A player can't "take" as many extra bases if they've already been TOOTBLAN

    2) The Astros' general inability to put balls in play (specifically with runners on) vs TOR's top 3 offense.... Blue Jays struck out 350 times less than HOU past two seasons.

Couldn't catch the game, but how was Morton? I heard he was living on the edge a lot today, but not sure if it was true

Seemed to have two on base in every inning.

Right up there with McHugh as Luhnow's finest work.

I guess things are going alright for the Astros if the complaint du jour is Jose Altuve's baserunning in a game that they won.

If Correa misses a week, no biggie.

    X-rays are negative.

Maybe he will heat up with a little time off. Still hasn't been quite up to par yet. He is below league average in average and RBIs and the power hasn't showed up yet.

On another note, does it seem like balls that the Astros hit don't travel like their opponents? There were some balls hit this weekend by the Astros that looked to be HRs off the bat but were on the warning track or just short. The As on the other hand looked to just flick the bat and the ball was 10 rows deep. Khris Davis' last HR especially. I thought it was a routine fly ball off the bat yet had plenty of distance to carry out.

Also, haven't seen any gap power to speak of until the 9th inning yesterday when Reddick and Tuve hit gappers back to back.

Not complaining bc they're scoring plenty...just an observation.

In fairness that was largely to blame on bad defense. 3 errors really led to 3 runners and 2 potential double plays were left in the field (though neither one was easy).

Is Nori's last name pronounced A-oki or is it I-oki?

I didn't see the first part of the game, but the first error was on a pickoff attempt by Morton. Would the guy have been out without the error?

    http://m.astros.mlb.com/news/articl...correa-out-with-hand-injury/?topicId=27118380

"I woke up today feeling a lot better and hopefully I can be back there in one or two days, but I feel a lot better," Correa said. "I want to be able to be out there and play every single day, so it's obviously tough."

"It's just early in the season and I don't want to be playing out there hurt," he said. "There's still a lot of games to play and I want to be able to play most of the games."

When asked if the Astros considered putting Correa on the disabled list, which is now only 10 games, Hinch said no.
