It's the right thing to do against a divisional opponent and it also keeps Keuchel and McCullers on their normal rest. Looking at the pitching probables for this series we should at the very least take 3 out of 4 here.

The 1% won out. ;) After saying "I think there's a 99 percent chance I will play tomorrow", he had some discomfort.

A day after Carlos Correa said "there's a 99 percent chance I will play" in the next Astros game, he was kept out of Monday's lineup because the pain in his right hand, which got hit by a pitch on Saturday.

"It bothered me a lot," he said.

He spoke softly, seeming dejected, about the change of plans before the Astros played the Los Angeles Angels. He had not attempted to hit until Monday. The contusion made swinging a bat too difficult to play.

"I didn't feel comfortable swinging the bat today," he said. "Give me another day. Hopefully, I'll be back in there tomorrow."

Manager A.J. Hinch said Correa is out "day-to-day" because of the injury.

When X-rays on Correa's right hand came back negative on Saturday, Correa had said he thought the damage would be "a lot worse." On Sunday, Correa told Hinch he wanted to play in the 162 regular season games.

The soreness on Sunday sustained through pre-game on Monday.

"It's a fairly easy decision if he has as much soreness as he has to give him another day off," Hinch said. "We're still optimistic that he's going to be able to play any given day."

Hinch bumped the usual suspects up in the lineup up to fill in the voided cleanup slot, which listed Carlos Beltran. Alex Bregman was penciled in at shortstop and Marwin Gonzalez at third base.

"We've got enough guys on the bench," Hinch said, unconcerned.

Hinch did not rule out using Correa off the bench if the situation called for that. He said Correa might do some hitting work inside the indoor cages to test his comfort level by first pitch.

Injury aside, Correa has not hit well in the Astros' first 12 games. He is batting .234 and has not hit an extra-base hit since his towering opening-day home run.

Stros can't buy a DP the last few games... no error at least

Morton has escaped the last 2 innings... 59 pitches thru 3.

Finish 5 and let Devo pitch if game is within a run.

Nice job by Charlie in that inning. Let's jump on Chavez some more here and get in the pen early in this series.
