Him and Strange are the illuminati that ban hulk to start with if I remember right. One of the non-spiderverse stories I am somewhat familiar with. I see dr strange will be in this but not stark. I guess RDJ contract is making it hard to put him in movies?

That's like the first 5 minutes of planet hulk. It really has very little to do with the story. Just a plot device to get him to sakaar.

Well the part I like is when he comes back as king to get iron man.

I believe you're referring to World War Hulk, which occurs right after Planet Hulk. I wouldn't hold your breath on that being translated any time soon. They need Hulk to be a hero rather than a dictator/tyrant at this point. Thor (assuming rumors are correct, and based off what I've seen it looks solid) will be leading right into Infinity War.

In other words there's no room for that storyline right now. Maybe in another 5-10 years...

That said, I think Thor 1 and Thor 2 are the lowest rated Marvel movies in the MCU (someone correct me if I'm wrong) throughout sites like Metacritic and RT. Perhaps Marvel / Disney wants to change things up, and infuse humor into the Thor movies?

No doubt. God forbid a comic book movie be fun. I welcome the change.

Also, that "humor-filled" scene was with Hulk, his comic partner in the Avengers. It's not like Thor was trying to be joking or buddy-buddy with the villain of the movie.

People are fickle. If it's too serious, people would want humor to balance it out. And vice versa. These trailers need a hook, and it shouldn't be an awesome CGI scene, since we know that's what comprises 80% of a Thor movie.

Problem with Thor is that none of the characters, save Loki, are compelling and the story is so out there it's just not relateable,

Giving the genre personality doesn't necessarily mean it has to be fun, but it worked for GotG, so there's hope that formula will work for a franchise that needs a kick.

Looks fine but it's hard to imagine a Thor movie without Mjolnir.

Looks quite awesome. Makes you actually look forward to seeing it, as opposed to, "I was a comic book geek as a child and feel a loyalty to these superheroes." Hopefully they didn't give away too much in the trailer, but even then, I'm there.

That stretch from Thor to Star Wars is like 2 months and includes Thor, JL, the punisher, stranger things, and Star Wars. My palms will be good and blistered

They need Tim Burton directing these movies.
