I'm beginning to think the Texans are looking to get their tackles later in the draft.

If they were lucky enough to get Mahomes in the 1st then the second and third rounds should be for the OL. So I'm going with Sharpe.

No Taylor Moton to choose from?

From this group I choose Watt.

Although Williams would be a great fit.

Watt won't make it to that pick. He won't make it out the first.

I see Moton as a RT, strong/mean streak/good nough movement. He would be a better RT than anything that's been there for the last 4 yrs.

I do agree that Moton would make a great OG.

I'd like Dion Dawkins in Rd2. Solid body and skills for RT.

You think they'll draft another guard? They have already Allen, XSF, Bergstrom, and Martin (or Mancz).

Not sure. I just like theses guys. Anything to fix our line. Plus there were some injury concerns last season as well.

With four guards who either have started recently or can start (Martin), I doubt they draft another as high as the 2nd round. But who knows with these guys.

They'll have to trade up for Watt, he won't be there at 57 overall.

Most mock drafts I've seen have TJ Watt going to Pitt in 1st round. I would get TJ Watt in 1st round.

    2nd round:
Jake Butt TE. Houston plays the Erhardt-Perkins offense that the Patriots run.
Denver with Peyton Manning ran it before Kubiak showed up. Jake Butt (once healthy) could provide
the Texans shades of Gronk/Hernandez. Butt is compared to Mark Bavaro of the New York Giants in
the past. Parcels ran Ray Perkins stuff with Bavaro.

Some scout sites report Butt needed to improve his blocking going into the 16/17 college season.....he
improved his blocking during the yr. Feidorowicz came on strong after 3/4 of the season. Playing 2 TE sets
would help cover the poor play of both tackles (eliminating Lamm in tackle eligible plays the Texans ended
up using often since Griffin & Anderson don't block).....whether it's Clarke or Duane Brown & his diminishing
    skills.

Plus a QB's best friend is the safety valve out of the backfield (Lamar Miller)....next is Feidorowicz. Jake
Butt would fit in nicely. Butt could chip block and then works the area where the ILB's are while Feidorowicz
stays behind and block; or vice-versa. Or both stay and block. Or both chip block and work the shallows.

Jake Butt says he will be ready by July; im guessing he will miss the first month (ready by 1st wk of October). Once healthy Feidorowicz and Butt can work behind or in front of ILB's regardless of 3-4
or 4-3 defenses. If ILB blitzes up the middle the TE can work that voided area; which helps keeps QB (Savage) healthy w/more safety valves.....Butt is said to be a mismatch in coverage due to his good route
running and body fakes. Presence of Jake Butt helps any OT drafted in 3rd round play some
minutes (All OT's in this draft will have trouble with NFL speed rushers off the edge). I don't think
Butt makes it to 3rd rd.

Summary: 1st rd: TJ Watt (Cushing plays OLB where Simon played; Cushing plays ILB during short yardage
or goal line defense. TJ Watt can blitz better up the middle than Cushing on 1st or 2nd and long.
I believe Cushings last injury was due to him blitzing up the middle and the running back tagged his
planted leg. I believe TJ will attack light on his feet. Go airborne if necessary.
2nd rd: Jake Butt (see above)

Rest of draft best OT/Safeties/Corners/LB's available (QB Peterman-Pitt mid rd; WR Yancey-Purdue; in 7th rd if
Texans think he will be drafted by another team).

    WR's/RB's/behemoth NT/CB's/Safeties/LB's undrafted free agents.

    O-Line may be:
Brown (LT).............could be moved to RT if he agrees; if OT like Bolles or Ramczyk drafted in 1st rd.
Su'a Filo (LG).........played well at seasons end (finally)
Nick Martin (C).......was playing as best offensive lineman before injury last training camp
Jeff Allen (RG)........Texans spent too much money last yr on him. * Mancz may take over.
Chris Clarke (RT)....Needs TE held with chip blocking; Rookie-will need help with chip blocking.

*i felt like Mancz did a terrible job. Nose of the O-Line was pushed in every play; but PFF rated
Mancz very high. They also claimed Mancz scored high on production per pay. Supposedly
Mancz did well for the amount of money he gets paid. I believe the Texans can wait for best
OT available in 3rd rd or later.

I actually think Butt will be available in the 3rd or 4th rounds. This is a good draft for TE's.
