I can't seem to believe this... I think it's a ploy for a bigger contract

imagine if peyton would have just done that in 2012. But that's why peyton is peyton and tony romo never led the cowboys past the divisional round nor did prescott for that matter.

well tom savage and rookie X it is. Rookie X will be starting by week 6 after some weird injury.

@RapSheet #Cowboys and Tony Romo reached an end of their drama. He is set to retire from football, as Dallas was set to release him, as ESPN said

Who knows if it's a ploy or not.

If true little Ricky just cleared out cap space and gave away a SECOND ROUND PICK for nothing!!

I doubt it. The Texans and the Broncos had a chance to speak with him. He didn't like what a possible restructure was going to look like so he decided to retire.

    It's Savage time I guess.

    That's a little drastic.

First of all, Brock had to go.

Second of all, there is no time limit on using the cap savings... and I don't think any GM or front office should pin all their hopes on a 37 year old oft-injured QB. This off-season was never "Tony Romo or bust." They had to move on from Brock, and they have to have flexibility in case a viable QB upgrade presents itself.

I'm guessing they now re-visit what the Patriots Jimmy G price is, with the backup options being Kapernick or Cutler.

not nothing; Brock would have been a huge distraction in our locker room. Same reason the Cowboys don't want Romo around. They just wanted to keep him to get something for him

Not really. The Texans never said they wanted Romo in public. The news about Brock and O'Brien also gave them reason to release Brock even if Romo never came here. The only people who feel embarrassed are the fans who who ate up all the talking heads and put all their hope in Romo coming here.

It's still a waste of a second round pick. They could've just cut Osweiler and be done with him.

Cap space! They can now resign Hopkins and maybe Clowney.

Texans are the only team who did not sign a free agent this offseason. They traded a second round pick to clear up space for him.

Reports came out that obrien wanted Romo.

Of course, they wanted him and it blew up in their face.

Like I said, Texans are an incompetent franchise.
