It would be very impressive if he were playing for Milby, Buff, but not earth shaking in the D-League.

Why didn't we sign this guy over isaiah taylor? He's taller, plays better defense, has been healthier and has been scoring more points (better FG% and 3P% over the last few games since Taylor came back from injury). The only advantage Taylor has (that I can see from the last few games) is that he's insanely fast. Is there an attitude problem that I'm missing or something?

Well just by looking at their stats head to head and previous game logs, Taylor is the most consistent player over GP2..Scoring 50 in one game does not give you a concrete prediction that he will be good in the NBA..just ask Brewer and Brandon Jennings

I wouldn't question Morey's ability to find quality guards. He's like a guard whisperer:

    Aaron Brooks
    Kyle Lowry
    Goran Dragic
    Pat Beverley

Not to mention seeing the potential of Harden when people thought he was just a plus 6th man.

Marginal player who will probably have marginal impact at the NBA level. Would have been nice to keep him around, just in case, but the league doesn't let you sign every prospect.

Rockets had their chance at GP2, but clearly felt Thomas was the better player moving forward. More offensive centric to fit MDA's system. GP2 looks like a good fit for the type of player the Bucks like.

Taylor can score points, makes good passes, finds open players, sucks on defense. For a while before his injury, he was a top-3 player in the D-League this year. He actually probably still would be if he were the focus of the offense, but they tend to split up the offensive load from game-to-game. He actually plays the PG role. He has shown he can shoot the 3-pt shot or at least improvement on it.

Payton, great athlete with good defense, can't shoot worth crap, doesn't have great PG instincts. If he ever finds a jumpshot, he'll be a good-to-great player... maybe. Great dunker, though! The reason his FG% is so high is he gets into the paint on dunks and layups a lot which isn't saying much in the D-League. Most of the time he's playing an off-guard/SG role from what I've seen in the D-League. If you watch a lot of his games, a lot of his buckets are a lot like what you saw from KJ McDaniels while on the Sixers.

Again, temper all your expectations based upon D-League stats because those layups and easy putbacks probably won't be there for these guys in the NBA.

Defense doesn't seem to be a huge priority for this team. This is one of the reasons Covington wasn't a big deal here. The Sixers asked him to stop taking so many 3's after he left the Rockets and focus more on defense, so his defense improved, but his shooting went to crap since he left the Rockets. I doubt too many players are going to be asked to focus on their defense by the Rockets. :)

From a needs standpoint, we can't be too sad about losing GPII with Bev, Harden, Gordon, and Lou on the roster.

I'd would be more broken up if it was a 3/4 position guy.

GPII has 1 HUGE knock against him from a scouting perspective and it's his age .

He's already 24 . There is a reason he was not drafted ...

Granted if he develops an elite skill he can contribute . But he will likely never be an average player .

LaVar Ball assured Morey that GPII wouldn't end up being very good:D

GP2 looks more explosive and better shooting than Taylor

Taylor isn't the problem here guys.

Here's the problem. We chose to continue to let Bobby Brown clutter up the roster carrying Hardens bags around over signing Payton.

Guys, Payton is one skill away from being a major rotation piece. His shot. Needs to improve. And his mechanics are decent enough that a good summer of shooting could do it for him. That rest of his game is NBA-ready. He's a plus defender and will be a plus defender at the NBA level with great athleticism and the size, strength, speed, and quickness to guard 1-3. He's very explosive and can finish with the best of them. He's very good reading the defense OFF THE BALL and cutting for lobs and layups. And he's got an NBA handle and makes excellent passes using excellent vision. His only weakness is his shooting. And his shooting isn't a total negative. He's slightly below average from three. Not that far away from being average to above average.

But.....We got Bobby Brown fellas. Go figure. I cannot explain it other than to tell you James Harden has way too much input on roster moves. And if he doesn't change is going to cost him and us a championship in his era. Sad.

Nope! Problem is Morey's constant infatuation with small guards and forwards. He WON'T STOP! Luther Head, Brooks, Carl Landry.....now Isiah Taylor!

GPIII has size, length and he's athletic. All he needed was to develop his shot...simular to Beverly

Even without a jumper, he can contribute and impact game in other ways(especially defense). He has potential and needs the right team to work.
