My goal is to beat you to 200,000. I need a Rocket to glom onto. If only Steve Harris was still playing.
Congrats. I'm not close to retirement, sadly. But I'm taking investments from those that want to contribute to an early retirement. It would be a great investment.
Early congratulations, bobrek! I've been where you're going to be for years, and my significant other retired about a year ago. We love to travel and have been doing a lot of that. You guys going to do some traveling when you're free?
Thanks! Working hasn't prevented us from traveling so far. We generally have been getting 6+ weeks in each year. It will now be easier as work projects and situations won't get in the way and we can stay gone longer if we'd like.
Getting out of Minnesota as much as possible from roughly November 1 to May 1 is the secret to a good retirement up there. I spent 8 years in neighboring Wisconsin so I know what I am speaking of.
I think that's the key to just living here. I dodged both polar vortexes a few years ago (when they shut down every school in Minnesota because it was too cold) thanks to some fortunate vacation timing. There's a reason why Minneapolis might be the only city in the US with a local airline dedicated to flying to warm weather leisure destinations (which I'm very thankful for).
