Kyrie Irving is a flat-Earth truther?

Think he's trolling; the flat earth comment first came on RJs show or podcast

If the earth is flat, the whole world is American. :p

I definitely don't agree with the guy and think the magnitude of a conspiracy like this would be so huge it'd have to encompass millions of people over the last two thousand years or so. But with that said, most flat earthers use the UN Map for their logo as their explanation for what the earth actually looks like.

They will then point to flight patterns, as Kyrie mentions, that don't make sense on a globe model but make perfect sense in the flat earth model shown here. Laugh about the idea. I'm with most of you that it's a really crazy conspiracy to believe in far beyond any of the 911 conspiracy theories. But at least do some research on the subject. If nothing else, it's an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours if you're smoking some good reefer and are bored.

What flight patterns don't make sense on a globe, pray tell? Fuel is the biggest cost for an airline, so they don't fly out of the way unless there is a really good reason. They generally use great circle navigation: the shortest distance between two points on a sphere.

You should read this thread. I already pointed at that the flight patterns they mention are not the non-stop version of the flights the airlines offer. The ones the flat-earthers show are one-stop flights. The non-stop versions found at Travelocity and other ticket sites show the direct path, distance and time the flat-earthers say they don't offer. Just weird they wouldn't look at the non-stop flights, which took me 1 minute to find.

Also, someone pointed out that a direct flight from Aukland, NZ to Santiago, Chile would take flat-earthers twice as long to get there, because it is waaaaayyyyy too far. Or the plane would have to go over twice the speed of sound to do it as fast as Qantas does it.

I'm not arguing in favor of this lunacy. Simply stating what flat earthers love to claim. Best would be to look at a flight path from Australia to South America.

Yeah, I kind of skimmed through the thread pretty quickly. Just figured I'd share the image of the UN Map, as I've always found it interesting that it'd show the world the way it does instead of like this:

And excellent point on the flight from NZ to Chile. Should pretty much close the book on the flat earth argument. But oh well. People believe what they want to believe.

    Apparently. Check this out.

Linsanity never would have happened without one, all-important apostrophe coming into his life -- D'Antoni -- yet still:

This is the point where you should realize you are about to say something really ****ing stupid, and then not say it.

I've gone in hard on Irving and flat earth belief. But actually most Flat-Earth advocators do know its JUNK science, not serious and do it with a wink-&-smile. Just so they can be a club of contrarians stirring the pot, not because they actually think theyre right.

I said MOST though, meaning there's still FEW who ARE IMPRESSIONABLE enough to believe it. There's the Arian Foster types who seemingly go out their way to not think conventionally. Even though theyre not dumb, sometimes they'll stick to something misguided so they can appear "freed" from mainstream think

I'd rather say something stupid than be a complete and total ****ing *******. You really have to be the most arrogant prick I've ever come across on a message board.

This is so stupid it doesn't even qualify as fake news. I wonder what Shaq thinks of the Globetrotters?
