Sorry, but that is absolutely incorrect. He had an L1 compression fracture. Not only did it not require surgery, but the bone probably healed to be stronger than it previously was. Unless he gets corkscrewed to the turf, there is no risk of injury to that area again. And even if he does get corkscrewed, hes no more likely to fracture it than he previously was. The collarbone is a little different though, and that is the only concern. JJ Watts back is more at risk for an injury than Romo's.
Watson is more NFL ready than Mahomes but could any rookie handle this system? Watson will go high but Mahomes could well be there at 25. All of them will need to learn it and it will have to be greatly simplified. I like both of these guys but they will have to be given a couple of years to fully assess them. I don't think this fan base will have the patience unless we see some real progress in year 2.
I don't think any rookie could handle BOB's system year one and I'm not sure Watson could handle ANY system in the QB year one. We'll see what happens with him, but I don't think he should be picked in the first round at all.
I would have resigned him for depth. Frustrating to see decent back-ups go. Especially on the o-line.
Rick and Bob be like. . . Spoiler ___________________________________________________________________________________ As for Broken Tony, John can have him. 2008 -- Broken right pinkie finger. He missed three games that ultimately cost the Cowboys a chance at making the playoffs. They went 1-2 without Romo and lost a winner-take-all season finale at the Philadelphia Eagles. After that game, Romo collapsed in the shower because of a rib injury. 2010 -- Broken left collarbone. He suffered the injury in the first half against the New York Giants when fullback Chris Gronkowski failed to pick up linebacker Michael Boley. Romo missed 10 games but was not placed on injured reserve until the second-to-last week of the season. The Cowboys went 5-5 in Romo's absence with Jon Kitna winning four times and Stephen McGee once. 2013 -- Ruptured disk. Romo missed a winner-take-all meeting in Week 17 against the Eagles after undergoing a discectomy two days before the game. Romo actually suffered the injury in a thrilling 24-23 win against the Washington Redskins in which he delivered the game-winning touchdown pass on fourth down. With Kyle Orton starting, the Cowboys lost to the Eagles 24-22. 2014 -- Two transverse process fractures. He missed the Nov. 2 meeting against the Arizona Cardinals after he was kneed in the back by Washington linebacker Keenan Robinson. He returned for the final two series after X-rays were negative. Brandon Weeden started against the Cardinals, and the Cowboys lost 28-17. 2015 -- Broken left collarbone. Romo suffered the injury in the second game of the season when he was sacked by Eagles linebacker Jordan Hicks, who landed on top of him in the third quarter. The Cowboys beat Philadelphia but lost the next seven games with Weeden and Matt Cassel as their starting quarterbacks. 2015 -- Broken left collarbone. In his second game back, Romo was knocked out on the final play of the third quarter, when he was sacked by Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis. While Romo's previous fractures had healed, he suffered a re-break in the healed portion. He missed the final five games of the season. The Cowboys won just once (at Washington) without Romo all season. 2016 -- Compression fracture, L1 vertebra. On the third play of Thursday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, Romo was driven into the turf while sliding by defensive end Cliff Avril. After the game, Romo said he felt good and Jerry Jones said he expected Romo to be ready for the regular-season opener. Romo had an MRI on Friday, which showed the break. A source said he is looking at a 6-10 week recovery period. Rookie Dak Prescott will start in Romo's absence. Source Texans fans will be like. . . Spoiler But I just gotta know, will fans cheer when Tony gets injured? Yes or no?
it's true that there is a lot to worry about romo but before the preseason, last season, so many that were in closet cowboys fans and some straight out cowboys fans were telling us Romo is one of the best. Now that' he's being pushed out the door, it's like a we never knew that guy mentality. If he dies, he dies but I'd welcome here for a year or 2.
The thing is.........he was one of the best back in 2013. Then his engine started breaking down, parts started needing replaced, and his warranty ran out with Dallas. Are we going to buy an extended warranty and hope it holds up? Just saying, will he be a refurbished Corvette or Kia?
Nobody wants to play here for the Texans. We are 1-2 years away from compete Cleveland Brown tank mode. My prediction.
Bergstrom is under contract and Aboushi wasn't. Neither are good. No point in throwing money at him. They're going to give Jeff Allen next year to turn it around. The system was a shock to him, and they need to set an identity for the line and things will improve. Either be a Zone scheme or a power scheme. Just decide and stick with it. They already have an upgrade for the LG spot if the move Nick Martin there and keep Mancz at center. Both Brown and Mancz balled all year. They just need help inside and they need a RT. Clark was the worst T in the NFL last year. And Newton sure as hell isn't coming back from his injury. Plus Bergstrom plays C and G. Good depth to have with Aboushi gone and the probable move of Martin to LG.

I seriously doubt Martin is moving to LG, he's the team's franchise center for the next decade. Mancz did a damn good job filling in for him, but he's going to be the one moving to guard which isn't a problem because he has experience playing all 3 O line positions.
Having the worst qb in the league we still managed to get to the second round of the playoffs with literally depending only on defense.
They'd have to completely whiff in the draft and udfa over the next couple of years for that to happen.
