Does the league need to step in and stop this. I was thinking about buying tickets to the cavs game which the rockets already jack up and are even more expensive on flash seats. There was a chance Lebron could have sat since it was a back 2 back. Is it OK for the NBA to completely screw fans like this especially in their marquee games. People paid good money for the Dubs v Spurs game. I would have been pissed if I spend 200 bucks for not that great seats and none of the main guys are even on the court.

I get the frustration as a fan, but how do you determine who a star is? What's the line between good management and sitting a star?

Yes. It's not okay. NBA is an entertainment business above anything else, and if the product on the court is not the best possible, it is not okay. Imagine paying for a Kendrick Lamar concert, you show up and Soulja Boy comes out.

but there's more to it than that. is it worth seeing your star player in a regular season game if they miss the playoffs like rose? i'd rather see harden at 100% and miss the entire regular season than vice versa. it's all about the playoffs bb

Then why even play the regular season? Let's just make sure everyone is always healthy and skip the regular season. If they're really concerned that players are playing too many games, shorten the season and not just have random rest days for different players arbitrarily where it affects the product on the court.

Fans shouldn't be forced to pay hundreds of dollars on expensive tickets to watch bench players play one another while the stars are all sitting out.

If you're healthy, you should play. Your #1 responsibility as an NBA player is to entertain the fans, winning is secondary.

I'm all about the playoffs! Rest em and bring on elite playoff runs. They only get rest here and there, the players generally always want to play...winners, that is.

But as an Australian who doesn't attend games, I understand the frustration for those who buy tickets to games.

    I'm divided on opinion

Nah, a managment needs to do whats best for themselves first so...what the league MUST stop is what we saw by the Cavs in Memphis a couple of months ago, when they rested Lebron, Irving and Love, all three...that should never happen imo, rest one at the time if you want, resting all of them in a single game gifting a W to another team is wrong imo.

JVG: Once again, the fans are told you don't matter. Pay up us front, we'll take your money & give you whatever product we want to.

If sports science has a beat on what's healthy for the players, they need to tell the league how many games that is healthy for players to play & only play that many games. If it's 65, cut our schedule back to 65.

If we're talking player wellness & player health & that's the number one thing, how can we say that and then play this many games when it's not healthy for the guys?

    Blame Popovich.

But Mike Breen is right. Players & owners aren't giving up checks to cut back the schedule.

    No.

Besides, then coaches will get more creative with excuses and ways to rest players.

Or Kawhi Leonard will play for 2 minutes and then mysteriously aggravate his hamstring or things like that.

I don't have a problem with guys needing a rest here and there but when sitting players starts to become a norm that's when it is done too much.

If being tired is such an issue. . . . CUT THE NUMBER OF GAMES!!!!!
They want the money for 82 games. . . but don't want to have to play 82 games?
Cut the number of games down to 62 . . . . will they still rest players then ?

The NBA wants the fan money and the station money for 82 games. . .
    That sh*t saturday was a f*cking travesty
No one wanted to watch the Spurs and Golden State D-Leaguers to play

    The fans got gipped
    The Station got gipped

Winning championship is ONE GOAL ., . . ONE PART OF THE GOAL OF THE NBA
The Goals are to ENTERTAIN the fans and then MAKE MONEY off of them . . .

If they forget about the fans. . .. they need to be reminded when the NBA championships were on tape delay

    Once

Paid good money to see Rockets vs Lebron + Cavs.

Traveled 3 hours for this trip to Cleveland.

Lebron and Co decided he needed rest.

Never going to another NBA game again.

The playoffs bring in a lot more money than the regular season -- got to have your stars ready for the second season. Pop got that huge fine for sitting everyone a few years ago when they played Miami -- if he thinks his stars need rest i'm not going to argue.

At a minimum owners shouldn't be allowed to jack up prices for certain games.
