Its been so long since the 7-9 hitters haven't been automatic outs, were going to have to be one month into the regular season to convince me this isn't still the case.
The Astros of late do have a seeming history of guys coming in and immediately underperforming their career/recent numbers. Those .220 averages weren't all homegrown guys.
Players tend to perform worse with age such that one should expect that acquired players will perform worse than career, recent numbers unless you get them young. McCann should be fine as he's got such a low bar to replace. Reddick still is young enough that drop shouldn't be too bad for a year or two. Beltran...I'm not expecting much...though better than what we had.
Interestingly enough, the Astros were 5th and 6th in OPS from the 8th and 9th positions in the AL (14th in the 7th). The should certainly improve those rankings (or at least the OPS). It just shows how bad those positions are in the league overall.
Our total OPS was 9th last season... 14th, 5th, and 6th from 7-9 equals 8.33th. If your stats are correct, it means 1-6 was dragging down the OPS?!! I recall our cleanup hitting (Correa) being subpar compared to league average, he needs to improve. But it appears he isn't the only spot (1-6) that needs to.
Is it too soon to conplain about lack of ST coverage by RS Southwest? Is there another way to watch without illegal streams? There is a fake game this Saturday which is better than no games for months. May only be a breadcrumb, but I'm starving for baseball.
Glad this was sarcasm. It has been months since I've seen a troll post. Not sure if new BBS format or just offseason.
NO you dont understand. What HINCH does wrong everytime is he does not ever put the right pitchers into the right springtrainging games. STUPID!@
For the 1st line up of ST, that looks Aoki to me. Looking forward to seeing how 1B plays out this spring. If Reed could have an Anthony Rizzo-like year 2, this team gets even scarier.
I just looked at the numbers and Rizzo and Reed's first season are pretty much identical. Same number of at bats, and exact same OPS. Here's hoping Reed makes the same adjustments...
