This honestly smells a lot like Chandler Parsons part two. Mavs overpaying for a player with an injury history with potential, the only difference is that Parsons actually proved a lot more when he signed with the Mavs.

my feelings about bogut aside, i can see the potential benefit of adding him. still, i'd hope for a different center.

Good deal for Dallas. They basically acquired Noel for Justin Anderson and 2 second round picks.

Our equivalent would be KJ and 2 2nds.

Philly screwed that trade up bigtime. Classic example of waiting too long and then taking whatever they could get. Likely two second-round picks... awful, awful move.

This reinforces to me that what you (and others with direct lines of communications) have said; the Rockets are very happy with Clint Capela.

Seems like Philly could have gotten a 1st for Noel. He's quietly had a great year.

Yeah I mean when the offer is Justin Anderson and two 2nd rounders for Noel, just hold on to the guy. You never know if Embiid will be healthy long term and two 2nd rounders are nothing. Colangelo is pretty much undoing all the gains Hinkie made.

Yes and the Mavericks again try to rebuild on the fly. They are going to be cap strapped and will have a nucleus of cast offs making near max money in Barnes and Noel.

What isn't discussed is the maturity and character issues Noel has. I have heard people at Kentucky and Philadelphia say that Noel cannot even do basic things like balance his finances, pay his bills or renew his license.

Love you man.... but Barnes is a star in the way Rudy Gay is a star.

This is low risk high reward move for Dallas, Justin Anderson hasn't exactly showed star potential and 2 rounders are nothing.

I don't really know if Noel is injury prone, he had 1 major injury and missed his rookie year and he had a minor operation in 2016. As far as I can tell that's about it.

We'll see. Good defense, very efficient on offense. I don't see him anything like Rudy Gay.

Wow. At 2 2nds plus a scrub we could have made a competitive bid. Morey doesn't rate Noel? Or won't risk losing him in summer? His max is $24m, he will likely get $20m+. I think he is an upgrade on Capela and could become a stud. We 'll have to pay Capela in 2018 anyways, and he will be $15m+. I would have traded for Noel, and then flipped Capela for a 1st round. Missed opportunity.
