For those of us who aren't on twitter, and have limited internet time to scour the interests looking for rumors and deals.

All input would be appreciated. Looking at you @zeeshan2 @J.R. :D

I want a big trade like for Wilson chandler or a big that could rebound and play defense. I'm honestly expecting a small trade ala Aaron Brooks for Jordan Hamilton like several seasons ago.

It would make too much sense, given the D'Antoni connection.

Harden needs to recruit this guy, he's probably the only player worth almost everything we can trade imo

@Vivi from everything I have read Bird is going to be stubborn and ride it out with Paul George. Not sure he is going to be traded.

HARDEN, ERIC GORDON & OTHER ROCKETS ARE IN NAWLINS FOR THE ALL STAR FESTIVITIES . I CERTAINLY HOPE THEY ARE TALKING WITH ANTHONY DAVIS...OR AT LEAST OMAR ASIK. THE PELICANS ARE GOING NOWHERE. ITS JUST A FEW HOURS AWAY.

Just something to keep in mind as you hear about potential deals....the Rockets aren't that far off from a max contract this summer:

    Projected cap: $102 million
Guaranteed contracts for next season: $87.5 million (does not include non-guaranteeds of KJ or Wiltjer)
Guaranteed Contracts less Brewer: $80 million

If you add in our first round pick, raises for minimum players due to the new CBA (Harrell and Onuaku), and a couple of cap holds, you're down to $19 million or so in space. That gets you a meeting with the top free agents. If one commits, then you trade Beverley and/or Ariza to get to max or near max space.

Assuming Harden wins the MVP and we get to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs, we will be riding a wave of momentum into free agency. IMO, we need to go for broke this summer. Harden will have two guaranteed years left on his deal, and he's in his prime. We've got to either trade for a star this summer or sign one. We cannot afford to wait for 2018 free agency when Harden will only have 1 year left on his deal....there will be questions about our long term stability then.

2017 Free Agent Stars To Watch

    Heyward
    Griffin
    CP3
    Lowry

@finsraider, the Rockets offseason cap flexibility is what makes me wonder if they are not willing to take multiple years back on any deal at the deadline. Unless it was an impact player of course. If the Rockets are only looking at "depth" then they are likely looking at expirings.

@finsraider i like your view, i'm starting to think we're going somehow to wait next summer to make the big splash though...

Blake is perfect on paper, like you said, but he has been injured a lot last few season, giving him a max is starting to feel risky imo...CP3 has been rumored to be the Spurs first option if he leaves...Hayward is going to be a longshot, Jazz and Celtics will obviously be frontrunners here...Lowry is going to get a max from Toronto, we know he would like to come back here but how much money we would give him? And i'm not even sure we can max him if we're not dumping Trevor or Pat AND Anderson or Gordon...aside for Brewer obviously...

But what about 2018? Brewer is expired by that time, Anderson should be (for various reasons) more tradable...George and Cousins expiring...eh...

Oh, last thing, what about Holiday? He's free agent this summer, do you think he would be a good get? I actually see him similar to Lowry but cheaper (and younger).

Eh PG would be a dream match with James, i'd say even more than Durant so, yeah, we can only dream for now.
