The cap is projected to go up $8-$10 million. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18253609/nfl-projected-salary-cap-2017-expected-163-165-million
This would be so awesome, but reports show Rivers is committed to playing in LA and management has smoothed things over. Sigh
Put it like this....there is NO WAY the Texans carry $42 million at the QB spot. NO way they trade a 2nd rounder (yes......There are teams they may be willing to give up a 1st or 2nd) for Romo. Move on.....
Right...and we were at 148 million as a team this season...so that's 15-17 million extra...as Ive already stated.
Yeah, I don't think they will either, bc its a bunch of idiots running the team. As long as the team has **** at QB, they wont do anything, so all that 20 million that will go to other positions instead of QB, wont matter. Its Peyton Manning all over again with the silliness of "we don't have the money". Yes, we do...it would be one year of having a crazy amount of money on the QB position, but the team is going nowhere regardless, if its just Brock and Savage going at it again. This team has enough talent to sustain one season of 40 million at the QB position. What's the alternative? Another 9-7 season with no shot in the playoffs. No thanks.
LOL. I guess the Texans won't try to add any Free Agents? They need a veteran WR, at RT, an inside LB (Cushing is gone), a DB, a Guard possibly. If you get Romo, you give up a draft pick u need for a Tackle or QB for may be a 1 year rental (who hasn't played a full season in 4 years). Not going to happen.
Difference situation. They didn't have $17 million tied up in a QB, plus the Broncos' didnt have to give up picks. Cowboys will try to extract a 1st from a Desperate team. NO GM in his right mind would do that. If an owner approved that, he needs to sell his team.
Texans need to stop trying to take shortcuts. Draft Watson in the first. He should be there when they pick and develop him.
I'm hoping the Romo situation plays out like Indy and Peyton. Try to make a trade that he approves of, realize it's just not gonna happen so they cut him out of respect/appreciation.
No way Jerry cuts him, because he know he has trade value. Plus, since Dak is making NOTHING for another 3 years.....he can keep Romo on the roster.
By the way, Romo is on the books for only 14 million in 2017 if the Texans trade for him...so all this talk of 42-44 million on the QB spot is added stupidity.
Yeah but the Colts are a joke of an organization and ever since people have started to overrule Jerry Jones and force good moves on the team, the Cowboys no longer are a joke of an organization.
Yes, he can keep Romo on the contract...if he wants to be a dick to the guy that was the face of his franchise for years.
spending 10 million on a guy that will be on the IR for most of the season Romo needs to retire for his health he has made enough money in his situation he needs to think about his future quality of life
The Texans need a QB more than any of those things. Brock is a sunk cost it doesn't matter what he is paid - his salary should be irrelevant to any good decision-making philosophy. You're going to have a bigger improvement by spending money/picks on a QB than any of the things you listed while starting Brock.
Exactly...as long as Brock is at QB, it doesn't matter what studs we have on the team. The ONLY thing that will make the Texans better, is a solid improvement at the QB spot. Nothing else matters right now.
