It's gonna come down to wins IMO.

Westbrook won't win it if the thunder are a lower seed

Disagree, because the narrative of "Take Westbrook off the Thunder and they're out of the playoffs!" is already being circulated. They just need a respectable record to justify it.

Harden has had to learn a new system, play under a brand new coaching staff, learn how to play with 3 new players (Gordon, Anderson, Nene, all of whom are injury prone and could fall apart at any moment), he has to play with 2 second-year players in Dekker and Harrell who are both getting lots of minutes, and he has dealt with two key injuries to starters (PatBev, Capela).

Westbrook should not win the MVP because he has 2 more rpg than Harden, when Harden has 2 more apg than Westbrook.

Honestly, what is Westbrook's case other than averaging 2 more rebounds a game?

So... These guys saying it's okay for Westbrook to win the MVP.. you're not getting the freaking point. I don't mind him winning the MVP, and no one should. but in my opinion, as well as others, Harden just proved more worthy of the MVP award than Westbrook right at this moment with that legendary performance last night. They are clearly robbing Harden of the merits he deserve.

Relax, there is still more than half a season to go, let's see how it all plays out.

How can you relax when there is a #mediaconspiracy out there against Houston and Harden?

Same b**** ass media that left him off the All-NBA teams last year?

    No one should be surprised.

Talk about a bunch of group-thinkers.

Can the media lower our playoff seedling and/or change the outcome of any given game? MVP means jack if it does not come with the ring.

How anyone can say the Rockets would be a good team without Harden blows my mind. Our bench has been getting better as the season goes on, but still... Do they not watch what usually happens to our offense when Harden sits? He is the key that makes our entire offense run.

You could say the same thing about Westbrook, sure, but Harden has been doing it for the better team.

Just like in 2015, if the other guy wins I wouldn't complain too much. Curry had an amazing season then just like Westbrook is having an amazing season now. But then, just like now, Harden was and is more deserving choice.

Before the season it was "the rockets suck" and now it's "Harden has way more help than Russell."

I don't give a damn if Russell averages a triple double, he can't and should not be MVP if his team is mediocre while Harden gets a top 3 or even 4 seed. Hell, Oscar didn't even win MVP when he averaged a triple double bc of the mediocre team record. Wilt averaged 50 ppg and 25rpg. No MVP. Jordan averaged 37ppg. No MVP. Kobe, 35ppg, No MVP. There are countless examples of dominant individual seasons that didn't result in MVP because of team record, yet now it's okay?

I fear the worst as well. Media gives this to WB. Curry was the first unanimous MVP. Of all the insane seasons, they gave it to him. Now they're going to give it to WB. They only want the bigger story and $$$ maker. WB averaging a triple double is more marketable than Harden leading the Rockets to elite status after changing position.

If the same stupid, bias media eventually changes their minds and votes Harden as MVP, how can that award be of any value? It's like Charles Barkley commenting on how good/bad your golf swing is.

If they screw Harden I'm okay with it…if it pisses him off and motivates him, à la Hakeem in '95.

No you're still not getting it. If the media is already decided on getting Westbrook the MVP award, there's no waiting for another half of the season to see the result. Everything I hear, even today, points to Westbrook winning MVP.

Doesn't matter at all to us but it certainly matters to Harden.

Everyone says it doesn't matter but it probably means the world to Harden. To win that award means without doubt you were one of the best players of that generation, it means a ton to a player's legacy. For a player it has to be 2nd to winning an actual championship.

I believe WB getting hurt and missing at least 15 games is the only way Harden wins this. If WB plays the entire season, its a lock for him b/c that will be even more impressive to keep such a crazy pace for a full season. They can't wait to market this story.
