Im hoping Brock Osweiler is our Drew Bledsoe getting benched moment. The rise of Tom Savage AF has begun.

Though Brady was very average that first year.

As bad as Osweiler has played, I think we're all just hoping Savage is average; Average would be a huge upgrade over the monstrosity that has taken the field since the start of the season.

With the talent on defense and offense skill positions, all we need is an average QB

I know average is an obvious improvement but man I'm so sick of average QB play from this franchise.

It would be nice for once to have a QB that can you know consistently pass for 300 yards and throw more than 1td a game.

Savage does ok when BOB actually lets him throw the ball. But, I am concerned about Savage getting hurt. He stays so firmly planted in the pocket that he makes an easy target. I really hope we can upgrade the offensive line in the offseason.

Still hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in the NFL.

Did some good things and some not so good things.

Didn't put the defense in bad positions with turnovers though.

    Redzone passing game still poor.

Looks to maybe be injury prone.

I still don't know about him moving forward.

the only worry is the injury prone thing. He knows where everyone is supposed to be, almost like he has knowledge and experience of the system. the red zone is kryptonite and it has more to do with the tendencies and the right side of the line.

I liked that he made some good accurate throws under pressure between the 20's.

that throw to hopkins as he got nailed was a thing of beauty...gave his #1 a chance..

He missed Hop on that 3rd and goal attempt trying too much to throw for touch instead of placing the ball

Savage has a chance to be good. Like his pocket presence, his willingness to stand in and deliver the ball under duress. A little Big Ben like, without the athleticism.

I'm glad he finally took off running in the 2nd half. Standing still in the pocket and being patient is great but every now and then you have to make the defense regret blitzing.

The Texans were struggling in the red zone for a reason, our QB is not good at reading the defense, and they are very slow in reacting and not very accurate throwers.

Savage did not show that he is much better than the one we sat down with $34 mils invested.

In fact, on the second FG today, he missed a very simple throw to Hopkins and it was not even close.

Its one thing to say that he is patient inside the pocket, but that also mean his read and communication with his receivers is pretty bad.

    Quarterback grade: Tom Savage, 65.5

Savage earns average grade in first start

Making his first career NFL start, Tom Savage had a forgettable night. Savage took care of the ball and didn’t record any turnovers, but also didn’t do much to advance the Texans’ offense down the field. He attempted just six passes 10-plus yards downfield, completing three for 49 yards. He didn’t attempt a single deep pass 20-plus yards downfield. Savage did have to deal with being under pressure on half of his 34 dropbacks, and had an adjusted completion percentage of 80.0 percent when under duress.

The left side is fine and Mancz has been pretty decent at center. This means you could plug in last year's 2nd rounder in Martin at right guard. Right tackle will probably either be Lamm or a draft pick. OT class is pretty bad up top this year so I doubt they go with one in the first but hopefully they can get someone interesting in the 2nd or 3rd.

Savage looked good when he was unshackled by the playcalling the "1" drive!
