You make a good point. I also question if Oregon and UW can both be contenders at the same time.

I have a lot of respect for Chris Peterson. He has the Huskies on the upswing and the Ducks probably don't have much of a chance unless they hit a home run with the next hire. Post-Helfrich, it doesn't look promising for them.

Some random rumors that I've heard today. Baylor offered Herman 36 MM over 6 years + incentives (per 790).

Chad Morris wants 5 MM a year with a low buy out for Texas A&M specifically. Baylor wants to pay him around 4. Take it with a grain of salt.

Can't blame BU if they say no thanks. 5MM for what could very well be a 1 year rental without being able to recoup much of it is steep.

The rumor is that we've moved on to Fedora who also wants bank. Baylor will have to overpay for a decent coach.

Fedora is a good coach but ya will have to overpay. Biggest thing is getting a guy who won't jump ship IMO.

That seems insane for Morris. Maybe he's not in a rush to leave this year.

To leave Chapel Hill for Waco? Yeah...it's going to cost em'. I don't think Baylor has the cache that they think they do...especially right now.

He could definitely get any open DC job in the country. It might be hard to get a HC job for next season but he can probably get one the year after. Tenn, Miss or Miss St could all have openings next year.

Hell yeah, I just don't think the Big 12 wants anything to do with him anymore.

Of course. He did very well at Louisville. Another program on that tier should give him a shot.

Read that Strong was offered a DC position within the Big 12 right after he was let go. Didn't say from who though.

But Strong will get a HC offer sooner or later, don't think he needs to go the DC route unless he wants to coach immediately. North Carolina, if Fedora leaves, would be a good fit IMO.

I could see it. Not sure who else will be on their radar. There are no slam dunks out there unfortunately for them.

Would be pretty crappy to leave USF after one season but understandable. Brian Harsin would be a great pick.

So how many schools have a vacancy they are trying to fill?

    Baylor
    Houston
    Oregon
    Indiana
    FAU
    Georgia State
    Nevada
    Purdue
    San Jose State

It sounds like anyone interested in the UH job will need to sign a higher than average buyout.
