Very curious as to what people think will have better carrier between the two of them. Obviously Embiid is just getting his feet wet, and there could be a lot of twists and turns (injuries and such), but i kinda feel it's gonna be interesting to look back in 5 years or so at this thread and see, wow this and that.
The injuries is a big red flag for Embiid so I would choose KAT. However, if we would look at it in the vacuum, then Embiid is the better prospect. Both can very likely become superstars.
From what I gather KAT isn't anything special as a defender. I mean he's good and above average, but not a world beater. Embiid is DPOY material.
I love them both, but KAT has that KG brain man. I just can't envision him not being great. What Embiid does for the Sixers is incredible though...
Also, some other offensive numbers: Towns 4.0 FTA PER36 (shooting FTs at 71.0%) Embiid 10.4 FTA PER36 (shooting FTs at 77.8%) Towns 2.7 assists PER36 Embiid 2.0 assists PER36 Towns FGs 49.1% Embiid FGs 48.5% Embiid is just as versatile really... And he's a beast at drawing fouls (something most great players share in common). And his defense is much much better than Towns'.
Let's keep in mind that this is Phili we are talking about. Kat's numbers would be incredibly inflated IMO.
Embiid all day. What he's doing in 25 mins a game is absurd. KAT is superstar material, but I think that Embiid is better.
I said Embiid before, but I can add more. Embiid if healthy is Hakeem with a 3pt shot ... and KAT is David Robinson with a 3pt shot. Just compare Embiid and KAT's 1st season November stats per 36min, Embiid is coming off 2.5 lost seasons and on a minutes restriction, while KAT's transition to the NBA was smooth.
Philly 4-13 Minnesota 5-11 The records aren't THAT far off. I don't know man, I don't think there would be much of an inflation. Philly is lowkey becoming a somewhat respectable team. And it's not like Embiid is out there chucking all game long. He's very efficient with his scoring.
Phili doesn't have guys like Lavine/Wiggins taking away shots galore, not a big like Gorgui swallowing boards. I don't know man I think the Sixers have stat padding personnel at the moment. Okafor averaged 20-10 for a season!
From what he's shown in his young career though, KAT has allowed an incredibly terrible percentage of opponent's shots around the rim. Kat is quicker and has more tools offensively, but Embiid is a throwback type of player with a 3 point shot and incredible defense. If he could stay healthy, I would pick Embiid any day.
