I thought we were paying for a pure shooter and all of a sudden he has this spin move. Anderson is a magician and a steal for what we paid him

Bruiser? Yeah right. Love was your prototypical great player on a terrible team. On a great team he's on the bench during crunch time. Tristan Thompson is the Cavs only "bruiser" if there even is such thing in today's NBA.

4/9 is nice but if you can't hit WIDE OPEN looks you are a streak shooter . This dude has range but he is a chucker . It doesn't matter how good the looks are or aren't . If he's hot he hits them if he's not he doesn't .

He needs to do more . He needs to be able to knock down wide open looks . If he does that I can forgive him being a bit judicious with the shot selection .

I have learned to accept Ryan Anderson will always be hated on on this form because of his salary. The thing is it's not that bad a contract when you factor in there just are not many bigs who can shoot and they will continue to get the max. he is slightly overpaid under this new cap

There are like 5 players in the NBA better than Ryan Anderson at knocking down wide open jumpers.

He is completely elite at knocking down open shots.

I hate this signing as much as I hated it on the day the news broke out. You are right. He is what he always is. That doesn't mean it makes it better.
Stretch 4 doesn't mean you will be a no defence, no playmaking no rebounding black hole.

(btw he became 28 y.o6 months ago. I also was under the impression he was 30 but nope. Imagine when he loses the remaining athleticism at the back end of the contract we gave him.).

I am slowly turning into an Anderson Only Hater (AOF?) mainly because of how bad he is. People point to his shooting but honestly is there really such a big difference between Ariza shooting 38% from the 3 and Anderson shooting 41% from the 3 when Anderson is so bad at everything else? Shooting 41% from the 3 but allowing the other dude to score in the paint is still a net positive....but like +1 net positive is total BS for paying 20M a year for the next 4 years.

Remember Anderson is only a career 38% shooter, that 3% difference is due to playing with Harden and our offense this year. He's supposed to be our other main guy, the person we can count on when Harden is off. 5/13 FG is not gonna cut it, we basically can't rely on Anderson to carry the team but we paid him star money to do it. Anderson is at least 5M overpaid, honestly the way Dekker has been playing I'd rather start that kid because at least Dekker can run the break and finish in transition, Anderson can't do anything except hit open 3 pointers.

Anderson is what it is, i mean, he frustrates me as well, but it's not like any of us can do anything about it, at least he usually gives some production on offense, unlike Brewer, who is nearly always terrible (on both ends of the floor).

He's worth $15m imo. The amount he gets paid more than that annoys me, and I think the contract in general will be a problem down the line, but given what our options were, we could have done waaaay worse for that money. He is spacing the floor for Harden.

I would deal him for Gay as a salary dump, but there's no way Morey can trade away a guy the owner asked him to sign a few months ago. How nice would it be to have that cap space next summer after the young guys get tons of burn during the season?

I've never been into the Les hatred cause I don't know or care enough, but man the Anderson deal.

He's not that bad defensevely, nor at rebounding. Some people treat him as a Wiltjer... Anderson is a little bit overpaid but is legit.
Harden and Gordon played much worse yesterday. Offensively and defensively.

It's AOH dude. AOF would suggest you're an Anderson Only Fan. Please go to the Jerry Lin thread to get some tips on acronyms :D

Anyway, issue is that this guy is a bench player being asked to start here. he doesn't have the defense to keep up with other starters. He is best utilized off the bench where he goes up against other mediocre bench players. Can't expect this guy to keep up with the prime power forwards in this league of which there are many,

I know they are different postions but Ariza is making 8 million this season.
He's more important to the Rockets than Anderson is. And I don't even think it's an argument.

I get today's NBA you gotta pay. But 18+ for that is a joke.

I am starting to hate the word mediocre.....

He is this word personified, and not the first average person to earn that. Won't be the last.

Everyone just needs to layoff Ryan Anderson. At least he isn't Brock Osweiler.

Isn't Anderson basically one of those guys where the owner says "I want to put a watchable product on the floor, dammit," and the GM says "this guy is who we can get," and the owner says "alright then, make it happen"? Is it any more complicated than that? And then they hope he performs well enough to satisfy the fans, and if he doesn't, they shrug, knowing they were unable to find or lure better talent with the money they had? It like CEO pay, but with a vastly more limited set of candidates.
