And, the TD play should never have happened. The refs misinterpreted the "untimed down" rule.

 

SMU's QB has been a complete disaster in the red zone. He should hitchhike back to Dallas.

 

Is the reason that they shouldn't have gotten the play the fact it was an offensive penalty and not defensive? I do recall that rule. You have to go by the rules, but I do think it makes sense to get an opportunity if there's a 4th down offensive penalty.

 

It's my understanding that it was more about the fact that it was an offensive penalty that resulted in a loss of down.

OSU pretty much got hosed, but I have to give their fans credit. I ventured over to one of their message boards, and while they're obviously irritated, most seem to agree that that's what can happen when you let a team like that hang around. Suffice it to say that the bloom is off the Mike Gundy rose with that particular group of fans.

 

That's mature of them. That was my view on it - but I can't say that would necessarily be my view if my team was the victim.

One of the oddest things. I mean I thought I was doing it right by watching to the final play. No one ever told me I should watch til the final play finishes + 1. Hahahah

Seems like a lot of these small schools are doing better than I expected. And the Big 12 is not looking so great.

LSU and Jacksonville State are scoreless after the first quarter, prompting Les Miles to pull Brandon Harris and turn the offense over to transfer Danny Etling. That means that the LSU offense has been so ineffective that they have handed the keys over to a quarterback who wasn't able to hold down the starting job at PURDUE.
