He was a terrible fit in JVG's system. Had he played for Mike Dantoni he never would've gone back to Europe.
He must have gotten better over the years but the guy could not play period when he was here. Couldn't shoot or pass and was slow and unathletic to boot. Rafer was way better than VSpan which tells you something about his years with the Rox.
No regrets here about Spanoulis flaming out in the NBA and being willing to void his contract to go back to Europe. Without that happening, we never would've gotten Luis Scola. No regrets.
He has gotten better, yes. But when he got here he could play. As far as Scola goes, I love the guy. But I'd still take a young VSpan over him in 07 or 08 whenever that all went down. VSpan has won 3 of 4 championships in Europe. And he's a couple years younger than Scola as well. We would've had a chance to had a longer run with him and probably a better run than with Scola. And that's no spite to Scola. Scola's a great player. But VSpan impacts the game more.
