We are currently ranked #22 in TRB, but that's bolstered by our ORB which is 7th, and we're actually 28th in DRB.

Why are we so bad at rebounding, especially defensive rebounding? I thought a rebounding specialist was brought in but maybe it takes some time for this team to grasp things like boxing out.

    Thoughts?

    1. As soon as a shot from the opposition goes up, we love to run the other way in the hope of a fast break without securing the ball.

    2. No rebounding from the PF position.

    3. When Dwight goes for a block, there is no one else down low to grab the brick.

Would playing so much small ball be a factor?

    4. Not enough players committed to boxing out if they are already in position to, because ball watching and just standing around is common

Are you guys math challenged? You're not even looking into the advanced stats. Do you guys even know that? Let me guess, the "eye test"? Pfffffft.

I thought of that but GSW plays a lot of small ball and still rebounds better than us on the defensive end - they actually rank 1st in DRB.

I checked our stats on basketball-reference.com. But the eye-test is pretty good too in our case.

"Do you even advanced stats bro?"

Exactly which stats are you referring to?

We allow a ton of offensive rebounds. We allow the 4th most in the league. All the reasons above (poor rebounding from forwards, no help after Dwight/Capela blocks, eager fast breaks) are all relatively valid from a statistical and "eye test" perspective, as the latter two aren't exactly quantifiable.

We pick fast break over defensive rebounds.

And you don't want to take away Dwight's rebound...

Dwight tries to block/goaltend every shot. The guys left around the rim don't box out, which leads to scrubs like Cody ****ing Zeller getting tip slams.

You'd think one of the million power forwards we have on this team would figure out how to get a rebound.

What is their small ball lineup?

Green is a good rebounder even at C.

We are playing Ariza a lot at PF, he's not a great rebounder there. Harden is a good rebounder, but then Terry or whoever we play at the 3 isn't good

Don't worry DMo will fix all of our problems for the 1-2 more months he's here.
