40 Million, 2 first round picks, and a new coach will solve a lot of problems by the start of next season ;). Don't listen to those who say nobody wants to come to Houston....professional sports is all about money, desire, and greed. Build the pile of cash and they will come!

It's protected though, right? Yeah, top-14 protected. We just have to miss the playoffs.

I wonder how many points $40 Million will score and how many defensive stops he will make.

Not if they end up out of the playoffs.

Only if we make the playoffs. Since we have no chance this year I would rather keep the pick than lose in the first round.

Harden needs to play in the playoffs yearly to improve. I'd gladly trade the borderline pick for the experience.

It's also possible that free agents will look down upon the team if they fail to do so.

Really like LeBron did with Cleveland and Carmelo did by staying in New York. Reality is they go where the money, advertising, and strip clubs are and we have at least two of those benefits. Not sure what world people live in who think that athletes nowadays pick a team because they made the playoffs the previous season. Watch a replay of the all star game to see how much today's all star players care about anything other than what Was previously mentioned!!!

I used to be a glass half full kinda guy like you OP.

This season took that glass, smashed it into thousands of pieces, and then took those pieces and threw them in an incinerator.

... made us drink those pieces, and then made us pee them out through a tattered urethra.

Good luck getting a star to sign if you havent made the playoffs. Lakers have 60+ millilns and i dont see them doing anything significant.

Speculation: Dwight will re-sign. We might pick up the option on Lawson in order to facilitate a trade during draft day or free agency.

But yeah, if cap holds didn't exist and if all remaining players guranteed for next season stayed then the Rockets would have about 55* million in cap space in the projected 92 million salary cap world.

Which would be enough to add 2 free agents depending on their years in the league. Guys lie Horford, Conley, and Durant would command like 27.5* million if given the max.

But with Dwight's cap hold I think we will only have 15* milliom to spend so you gotta hope he gets signed somewhere rather quickly so the front office can go sign all the good free agents before they're gone.

*please correct me if I'm terribly off on these estimates.
