The current Rockets seem to be on a similar trend (And i emphasise TREND), with success in the previous season while performing below expectations in the next season.

Here's to a trade that shakes the rockets up, come in to the playoffs as the underdogs and..... the rest is history.

Just spreading some hope and positivity :D

All we need is to just get Portland to send their best player, Lillard, in exchange for our starting PF (Jones)

We can send them Alessandro Gentile to play the Marcelo Nicola role in the trade as Italian-throw in.

Mr. Alexander really pushed for a major trade and he's loved Drexler ever since.

Spurs one year, GSW another year.. keep alternating to infinity.

Not a very competitive league at the moment.

Except we don't have a Hakeem who at that point was already a top 15 player of all time. Nothing you can do is going to make us a champion this season outside of getting LeBron.

I was too young to remember the Rockets' two NBA titles.

Can someone explain what it was like for that 1995 Rockets team to finish the season 17-18 after making the trade, limping into the playoffs as a 6th seed, and then go on to win 4 straight series against a 60 win, 59 win, 62 win, and 57 win team?

Did that Rockets team seem completely lost before the playoffs like this current team? Would it be the equivalent of this current team getting into the playoffs with .500 record then randomly start playing amazing and reaching the WCF?

What was the national media narrative about that team? Were they treating them like a Cinderella story?

Basically, what were the perceptions and attitudes throughout the season and the playoffs of that team?

Also no Horry who was probably one of the most clutch players in NBA history and no Cassell.

Actually, I like the 7'1 version of Chandler Parsons. He would be a great stretch 4 with his shooting. Fit perfectly.

Maybe Curry will have to retire due to a gambling problem :p

But no, this team is nothing like the 94-95 team.

It wasn't quite like the current team, they were not as bad as their record indicated. Changes needed to be made, but it was not hopeless IMO. We are hopeless this season, I'm still going to watch and support them. But we ain't winning anything. National Media ignored the Rockets after we beat the Knicks and that has continued to this day. Who was on the Wheaties box in the summer of 1994? It wasn't Hakeem, it was Ewing. What I remember from 1986 was that we did get a little bit of love from around the country. The LA series was pretty much one sided and lots of NBA fans were happy to see the Lakers not make the finals.

We will always be an underdog, we will never have national respect. Unless we have a number 1 player like Dr. J, Magic, Bird, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq or Curry...then no one will care aside from Houstonians. Harden isn't one of those, Hakeem was for a few years but he just wasn't that popular for some reason. The NBA was desperate for a star after MJ first retired, Hakeem wasn't marketable and never got the attention he deserved.

Harden is an all time great from sequenced performances in the way Iverson is. It's just that Iverson's supporting cast were determined role players that were always better coached than any of the James Harden Rocket teams. That's the truth.

Well that may be true, but comparing James Harden to Allen Iverson is really bad especially at this point of Hardens career. Maybe in 5 to 7 yrs, but now it's way too early and Iverson played against better competition. Shaking up Klay Thompson is not nearly as impressive as doing so to the likes of MJ and Kobe.

Iverson also played in an awful conference in a brutal NBA era.

That team would be lucky to make it out of the first round of last year's WC.
