It's okay to be an apprentice in order to become a master. Especially since Terry's been there and knows when to stick a light in people's butts.
Awesome!! Thank you James Harden for those who take this negatively: take that to a hate Harden thread. The guy simply understands what Terry does for the team, which we already knew because of the many reports throughout the year. Even McHale said he's kind of like an assistant coach. I do find it a bit weird how it sounds like Terry isn't really looking for another ring.
It's better to have Terry than anyone else for that spot. He can step in and he has an elite skill and he knows everyone and motivates them. But more important to me is the fact that it shows Harden is committed to willing this team to a championship. He believes in the team and is a part of improving it - rather than being an outsider like a Melo who's just giving his GM chances each year before he gets fed up.
Every player on the team, incl Terry, said that Harden was the leader and that he did an excellent job of being a leader. You aren't around the guys, so you don't know if Harden needs to be more vocal or not. Also you can lead by being a vocal leader or lead by example. I'm sure Harden does both. And it is great that Terry is back. It is always good to have seasoned vets on the team. In Terry's case for timely buckets and in case the team needs a calming voice in the locker room during losing streaks.
Terry's most important role is mentoring Ty Lawson. Everyone respects Jason terry because he has a ring and you don't.
LOL at you posters mad because you think Harden can't lead without Jet. You obliviously do not understand team sports. Harden is the leader by his play however the team, including Harden, respect what Jet has to say, the guys already has been there done that. He's been in the league since 1999, his played in 110 play-off games, he's won it all. Jet played 30 minutes in THE FINAL game of a season and posted a 21 point 6 assist night off the bench to seal the title against King James and his 2 sidekicks. You need that experience on a team clawing it's way through a loaded Western conference. Welcome back Jet!
Where would Pierce fit in the rotation? We already have Ariza and Brewer manning the 3. Plus we have McDaniels and Dekker behind them.
Terry made a good decision. The Pels really aren't on the cusp of anything, unless you think a 6th-7th seed ceiling and a 1st round exit qualify.
No brainer. Why would Harden let Terry leave? With Terry on the roster, Harden can never be the worst defender on the Houston Rockets. Harden knows what he is doing.
Agree. I never paid much attention before he got here, but Jet is a goooood talker. He impressed me @ media day last year and every occasion since.
What happened to that thread from a few nights ago where some dude said he had some updates on the rockets and how Howard and Harden don't like each other?
