Honestly, this has been on my mind for a couple of days and it pisses me off. I don't think I've been this angry about something in quite some time.
Surprised I hadn't seen a thread on this earlier. This story sucks. I do love the irony of the hunter now being the hunted though. He deserves it.
People have gone overboard on this in my opinion. Hunting is not something to frown upon. Hunting protected species is certainly a problem, but if his guides duped him into thinking this was a legal hunt, then it's hard to get upset with him.
Damn, Jimmy really got emotional at the end. Didn't really make much jokes on this, he was very upset and rightfully so. What's the worse that can happen to the dentist? A few months in jail, hefty fine, and then back to practicing dentistry?
I'm fine with legal hunting. It's not something I'd do, but if it's legal, then go for it. If we take the dentist's word for it, for all he knew, it was legal. Until it's proven he knew it was illegal, I think he's fine legally. His guides should definitely be jailed. They're locals, they knew the laws and the reservation.
Every big game hunter I've ever met - and I sold guns to a number - is a raging egomaniac - the kind of person who views the entire universe as existing for their own self-aggrandizement. They're the kind who goes hunting as a status symbol. That's just my personal experience.
This dentist did the same thing to a bear before. Hunted it outside of permitted zone then tried to drive it back into correct zone so that he could legally claim it, or something of this notion. Disgusting. Tired of seeing this crap. Hope they jail him and throw away the key.
Shot with a bow, suffering for 40 hours until a rifle shot put him out. Very sad. Without that GPS tracking device, Cecil would just be another dead Lion and that a hole dentist would have another mantle in his house.
I don't understand why big game hunting is considered a sport. Woopity doo...he used a bow and arrow so he must be strong. Go to an archery range a**shole. No need to take the lives of rare animals.
He won't be going back to Minnesota anytime soon. He'll probably open a dental practice in some other country though.
Yeah, I do think the dentist knew the legal gray areas. Opinion isn't very factual, though, so I don't think that would hold up well in court unless there's proof or the guides narc on him.
Cringe at people who think this is "hunting" Animal has no chance when you have a weapon, its pathetic
