This. This kid is going to be an all-star. At some point between his freshman and sophomore years in college, a light came on. In that second season his production shot up across the board. I am hoping the same can happen in the league. Man, i can't wait for training camp!
Dudes trash, he'll never be more then a rotation big of that. To say he's a future Allstar is a big big optimistic viewpoint on your end. Theirs a reason every team passed him up in the draft. Guys that don't get drafted Hardly ever become even rotation players let alone allstars. He was not very good in summer league, it's not his talent or his physical limitations. It's his head he's just not an instinctive player and he is way to skinny for the league. I really hope the rockets don't waste a roster spot on this guy. He's not better then and player we have, even Dorsey wouod give more quality minutes if he were on the team imo.
are you a scout for a team????... i really wanted to get into scouting bc of my love for the game and my experience...
Yes, the kid is lazy. But saying he is trash is way off. He has the talent to be one of the better players to come out of this draft (even if he was undrafted). Plenty of other players have had great careers after going undrafted. Yeah, losing out on Alan Williams sucked. But i am confident Wood will make up for it.
You are absolutely right...the poster calling Wood a future all-star is being optimistic...you wasted words with this statement as it is obviously an optimistic point of view. By the way, please google "theirs", "there's", and learn the difference. Joey Dorsey did provide serviceable minutes occasionally, but that was offset/surpassed by what were atrocious stretches of pt. So to make the comparison between Wood, whom we still don't know how he would play with development and actual in-game minutes, to Dorsey, whom we do know what he brings (doesn't bring) to the table is just as weak and unfounded as the optimistic opinion that Wood will be All-Star caliber. You started your post with "Dudes garbage" and yet provided nothing in the form of evidence to back up that statement. You didn't state that you watched a lot of video on him, studied, him, or even that you might have bumped into him at the mall and he was a jerk to you. So when we make strong statements like comparing a player to trash ( which is a totally inaccurate comparison as trash is undesired waste and Wood clearly has aspects of his game that are desirable to NBA teams) at least provide your reasons as to why you wield this negative opinion of him.
Oh...and by the way...a big that has broken into an NBA team's rotation is obviously not garbage. If we can find a guy that wasn't drafted and develop him into a rotational player, well that would be a small victory for us. Ease up Yao...don't hate on C-Wood because he is trying to get his career started whilst yours is over!
I don't think he makes the roster. He takes the guaranteed money, 50k 100k or 150k and then take the 25k from RGV Vipers and Houston has him in their system and will know if he has any issues from the coaches. It seems to be the standard way of getting around the 25k D-League minimum is to give a partial guarantee with the understanding he will play for your D-League team.
Not sure if this is 100% sarcasm but that user quoted scouting notes from NBAdraft.net http://www.nbadraft.net/players/christian-wood
Hahahahaha all-star... he's a defensive specialist with less skill than Chuck Hayes. Just how is he going to turn into a 18+ and 10+ guy? The league is stacked with 4s and cream rises to the surface. The Rockets are hoping he'll show development in the D-League so he can play spot minutes. No one in a Red Nation office is thinking all-star.
I have no idea if this has already been said, but I totally read this thread title as David Wood. I'm old.
Worst case scenario is it takes him 4-5 years to come around. Plus, Chuck Hayes couldn't shoot threes.
