Cowherd is quick to throw around charges of racism at others, so I have zero sympathy, but this is getting ridiculous.

EDIT: didn't know he was already leaving

He was already leaving ESPN, they just terminated his contract one week early. No sympathy from me for either party. ESPN should have dealt with him since his John Wall crap.

Even if you set aside the racism driving his remarks, he should still be fired solely based on how unbelievable wrong he is in his assessment.

What ever does academic exposure have to do with having the capacity to learn to play a sport??

If academic prowess had ANYTHING at all to do with it, I'd guess that half of all current NFL players would never have made it.

I'll take the collective IQ of MLB players over NFL players any day.

Colin didn't say anything racist.... enough is enough. People are looking to get offended.

What is funny is that Cowherd was praising ESPN the last week and how well they have treated him and now..... HE GONE!

I used to like cowherd years ago, but man just over time he's rubbed me more and more the wrong way.

    I think it's his smugness.

ESPN's been pretty heavyhanded with its on air talent lately. Bill Simmons comes to mind

Well, he pretty much said that Domincan's were stupid.

Now he easily explained it away that he used a poor choice of words and I can see how that can happen...but you can't blame people for taking what he said and thinking it was racist.

Did you listen to the whole thing or only the cut off portion? If he said anything it was that the Dominican Republic lacks the level of standard education that most of the world has... and he is right. He went on to discuss how language barriers are not as big an issue in baseball.

I don't even really like him, I appreciate he works hard at what he does... and his point that baseball isn't a thinking mans game is silly... Although I am sure it is hard to come up with something new and novel every day.

Haven't heard of this fool, but read that link and his apology reeks of douchebaggery.

ESPN is owned by Disney. If anything offends anyone, whoever said it is gone fast. They've been like this for a while. Surprised they cut him now when he said a fact and not when he called john wall the n word.

He is smug. He also thinks that because he has worked hard and been successful that anyone with half a brain and that works hard will be extremely successful... Very much has a 1950's idea of the world..... Still don't think he should have been let go the way he was. I don't believe he is racist, if any thing he is elitest and classist.... He would have no issues hanging out with a famous Dominican that "gets it".... He just doesn't seem to like poor people.

The few things I ever heard him on, I never liked. Always sounded like a lazy douchebag to me. But honestly, that is what most of his field is nowadays. Most sports commentators are simply bad at what they do, he is included.
