Right, because a 7 footer with silky post moves and range to 3 is easy to over value. Maybe Denver knows he's completely off limits, ESPECIALLY for a guy like Lawson.

Thing is if we trade jones now we have to get a starting PF asap, can't count on a guy coming off back surgery without a backup.

 

I get that a lot of people are high on DMO because of his strech when Howard went down. Bht this is all hype right now, I'm for sure not big on jones, but he's always someone you can count on when FULLY healthy.

It sounds like you are discounting how much DMo progressed when Jones went down last season. From there, they were never healthy at the same time for the rest of the season except for a few games. DMo took a huge leap last season before his injury...it's not the same guy who sat for almost the entire Portland series 2 seasons ago.

 

Agreed. Collison is a minus defender but Lawson is a train wreck. And Collison is an efficient scorer and solid ball handler, both players protect the ball, and Collison comes at a fraction of the cost without the headache

 

I don't think ESPN's Trade Machine has updated its "Cap Room" and "Over Tax Line" figures for each team (or at least not for the Rockets). That's (at least one of the reasons) why my theoretical trade doesn't work on the Trade Machine.

That said, I do believe that the Rockets may first need to clear Terry's large cap hold off the books before being able to use the (Non-Taxpaying Team) salary-matching rules necessary to pull off my theoretical trade. According to Jonathan Feigen, the Rockets have extended a contract offer to Terry, who has not yet accepted it. I'm guessing it's a one-year veteran's minimum offer; but given that the Rockets have Terry's full Bird rights, it could be for any amount.

I'm guessing the Rockets will need to finalize something with Terry (either re-signing him, renouncing his rights or signing-and-trading him) before we see a big trade made.

Did you watch Dmo play last year without Dwight and Jones? He was the primary post option and he flourished. He scored at will on great defenders (even Anthony Davis). We can easily find another Terrence Jones. But find me another 7'0 big man with the 3 and post game......

 

Why do people think DMO is so good? I'd trade Dmo before I trade Jones. Jones has a higher ceiling

He could come back beasting like he was during his good strech & do the same thing with Howard in the starting lineup. But as of now it's no guarantee on that.

LA is not into him. That has to be agent speak. They have two point guards, one being the pg of their future. Besides Russell and Randal what value do they have to trade?

Yeah the espn trade machine has problems many times, esp around the trade seasons.
So now we have a schedule on our hands
As long as Terry situation is not resolved one way or the other no trade taking back big salaries.
