Jonathan Feigen ✔ @Jonathan_Feigen As mentioned many times, Smith likely to get much more than Rockets' non-Bird tender ($2.5m), if they don't use MLE. https://twitter.com/HealdClay/status/617470607240736768 … 6:13 PM - 4 Jul 2015
My guess is he's waiting to see if he gets a huge offer. Still a handful of teams with cap space. If it doesn't come, he's ours for $2.5. I don't think he's looking for a reason to leave.
I'm very skeptically of this. If someone wanted they would have paid him by now. His value falls by the day.
Someone could still pay him, but I do agree that his options are narrowing every day. Too many teams out there have already committed most if not all of their capspace to other players. Certainly all of the playoff contenders. I doubt he wants to sign with a sh-tty ballclub like Philly that's going nowhere. I'm surprised McDaniels has garnered so little interest. If he's supposedly this promising young player we need to resign(I don't buy that assessment personally), why has no one else made an offer yet?
Smith could play a 2-4. I personally think he should back ariza at the 3 cause of his passing ability
Who cares, he can't play in the 4th qtr when we need him the most because he can't shoot free throws! He's a great player when not being fouled, however, when the hack a Josh starts he falls apart. If we get him for minimum deal then great.
How much can the Rockets offer Amare or Boozer with the veteran minimum, as an alternative to Josh Smith, if they decide to go that route?
I'm pretty sure Josh isn't leaving for the MLE, but he would leave for 7-10 million. He is just seeing if gets that offer from a desperate team with space. He can take his time since there is no way we are going to pull the 2 million dollar offer because he is a bargain for that price.
I would guess Smith has a deal in place to take whatever is left over after the Rockets make all their additions. Just a guess.
The ****? Since when was Rubio worth that much? As for the OP the Rockets can't force anyone to sign a contract, obviously Josh Smith is still weighing his options.
McDaniels could potentially become something like Butler in Chicago. Only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was when he easily fractured his wrist. Injury prone is not good.
I think Cuban will throw 10 M plus at Josh Smith now, to spite us. It would hurt to lose him, but Dallas won't become much stronger even if he joins them. Josh has a much better chance of succeeding, and winning a championship in Houston.
He might, but that would be super-dumb. As of now Mavs roster, with both Parsons and Mathews coming off surgeries, has a pretty good shot at finishing 7th from the bottom or worst, and keeping their pick. Add some quality players, Smoove, etc., and they end up with 10-15th pick, which goes to Boston...
